Who wants to do some navel-gazing? A belly button piercing is such a cute and sexy piercing that so many people are attracted to and want for themselves. In general, there are only a few different placements for belly button rings. You can choose the upper navel or upper rim, the lower navel or lower rim, and the sides. Most belly button piercings are on the upper rim or navel and we will be sure to share with you plenty of images of such so that you have the best idea of what to expect if you decide to go that route.
We wanted to discover the trends and possibilities with belly button piercings so we turned to social media to get the latest and greatest in all things buttons. We were pleasantly surprised to see a number of different types along with some truly stunning jewelry that makes for real body candy. If you are curious about belly button piercings or are thinking about adding to your button’s collection, please take a look below for all of the best ways to style your cute little button!
Take a Walk on the Wild Side with These Belly Button Piercings!
As promised, here’s an image showing an upper belly button piercing or upper rim piercing. This type is the most popular in the area. How about these precious, pink stones!? Those gems are a sight to see, especially considering how the majority of people go for a more traditional look with a clear crystal. We think this choice is beautiful.
Here’s a very cool piece of jewelry that really shows off the area. It’s a curved cluster of gems that fits beautifully inside this person’s navel. We love how this piercing shows a little bit more variety and we’re glad that we’re already beginning to see how much variety there is with these piercings. We like keeping our options open.
Here’s a look at the other direction you can take this. The lower rim or lower navel piercing is not nearly as popular as its upper sister but it does have its merits. This piercing has a very simple and clean look but overall it’s still very beautiful. This one is for those who might want to be more lowkey.
Here’s another example of a lower navel piercing. We think these look best on people with shorter torsos where the belly button appears higher. But, it’s totally up to you! If you want to rock this look, we would never tell you that you couldn’t. At the end of the day, it’s all about personal choice and everyone’s individual preference.
Put a Ring On It
Most piercers aren’t using full belly button rings like they used to. They’ve pretty much fallen out of fashion but we think a ring is a cute look. This is an upper navel piercing with a ring going right through it. Would you be nervous about something going through it and getting stuck? Because we would be. Is that weird?
Here’s a double belly button piercing with both an upper and lower piercing. It looks fantastic if you can stand the discomfort of being pierced not once, but twice. We do appreciate the symmetry of this double piercing. What can we? There’s just something so right about something being able to be identical when it’s cut in half or more.
Another way to make your belly button piercings really stand out is with one-of-a-kind jewelry. We find a cute little figurine that looks like it’s sprouting from this piercing. How fun! This type of piercing is perfect for those people who want something a little more on the whimsical side of things. Could you see yourself with this little guy?
Here’s a standard belly button piercing flanked by two subdermal piercings which are anchored to the skin by a small implant that holds the jewelry in place. This little trio of piercings adds a little extra pizzazz to the overall vibe of the piercing. If you’re feeling like you wanna be the center of attention, this trio is for you.
Another Way to Trio
Another way to get a cute triangular look with your belly button piercings is to have a horizontal industrial piercing. It’s simply a bar that goes in and out of the skin with two balls on the ends to keep it in place. This set might be down your alley if you don’t like the idea of the subdermal piercings.
A Rare Sight
Most people choose vertical belly button piercings but that’s not all that’s out there. This person has two horizontal navel piercings that go through the rims of the sides rather than the top or bottom. We certainly don’t think that this double piercing in particular is one that you see often. Honestly, this is our first time seeing this one.
Here we find two belly button piercings stacked in an upper and lower formation. Below, you will find two small dermal piercings that give this look a total of six studs. It’s nice to see that the person who got this piercing chose to go with two different colored stones. It’s always good to see how people mix and match.
Outie? No Doubtie!
Some people think that just because they have an outie belly button they can’t get a piercing. Nothing could be further from the case. You can still get yourself a belly button piercing. In fact, we hope that you might be inspired to get one if you’ve been holding back because you thought this. Go and live it up, baby!
See? No Problemo!
Here’s another example of an upper rim piercing done to an outie belly button. It looks fantastic, right? Does it make you wonder what you’d look like with a belly button piercing like this? Or maybe you’ve already been thinking about getting one. Either way, we encourage you to do what makes you happy. We like to think we would.
Piercings for All!
Here’s another example of a unique belly button piercing that takes advantage of this person’s uniquely shaped button. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, folks. That being said, if you want it enough, you’ll make it happen, no matter what shape your belly button takes. We are super confident that you’ll make the decision that is right for you.
Make It Pop
Go ahead and make that belly button piercing pop with some dermal piercings to the sides. If you can’t get enough dazzle down there, add more with these implants. We can’t imagine how it must have felt to get all of these done but we can certainly admire the dedication that this person had when committing to her unique look.
Let It Dangle
Here, we find a double piercing with some dangling jewelry on the bottom to make it look even longer than the piercing scheme already is. If you’d like to accentuate the length of your torse, feel free with belly button piercings like these paired with some fantastic jewelry. We absolutely love this look in particular. We can appreciate the dangle.
If you want to take your belly button piercing to a whole new level, consider a tattoo around the area once it’s healed. Don’t these fine lines look fantastic around the button? We love how this multicolored green and blue jewel pops alongside the intricate tattoo design. This combination goes together so well that we’ll definitely consider it a favorite.
Chain It Up
Belly necklaces are like the most dazzling little belts in the world! We find one here paired with a belly button piercing to give the whole look something to be anchored to. This is also a combo that we’ve taken a particular liking to. We think that having the chain is a great way of elevating this look . It’s beautiful.
Create a Constellation
You’ve likely heard of constellation piercings for your ears but have you thought to try the look on your belly? This person has a lower belly button piercing and two surface piercings to create an interesting shape. You’ve likely heard of constellation piercings for your ears but have you thought to try the look on your belly? This person has a lower belly button piercing and two surface piercings to create an interesting shape. If you really want to go all out, you could add even more subdermal piercing to grow the constellation, or even add more.
Top It with a Bow!
If the idea of surface piercings doesn’t freak you out, you can consider creating rows of them to lace up. Let your belly button piercing be the top point to tie the bow to. Can you imagine being in a hurry and not only having to lace this up, but also your shoes. We can imagine how chaotic that is.
Unlike some of the other trios of belly button piercings, this example consists of three true navel piercings. We find an upper rim piercing and two semi-horizontal ones that you’ll find gold rings inside. This set of piercing definitely has a different vibe going for it. It’s very cool. One thing that we can say, is that this piercing rocks.
Here’s another triple piercing but it forms more of a cross shape as opposed to an arrow one. We love all the glittery blue in this button. This piercing feels s though it has a story behind it Like the point of it was to make is wonder exactly why someone wanted this piercing in particular. THis is a beauty!
It’s Pronounced with This One
This person does not have a “conventional” belly button and thus, they’ve managed to turn some lemons into lemonade with their belly button piercings. There are three total, all very much pronounced thanks to the unique shape of this button! Overall, this set of piercings comes together incredibly and it shows the talent of the person who did the piercings.
Apologies for the extreme close-up of these belly button piercings, but we find an interesting scheme in this image. Three upper rim piercings are stacked right on top of one another with a lower ring dangling below. Let’s hope they did not get all four in a single sitting! The button’s shape here give this piercing a very unique look.

We find a double belly button piercing here with both being perforated by a single, universal piercing. If you want an upper and a lower, you can make the most of both with a custom piece of jewelry like this! We think this piercing really does suit this belly button. This cute little custom piece is beautifully crafted and shaped.
There you go! These belly button piercings weren’t so bad, were they? We hope you enjoyed this exercise in navel-gazing and feel inspired to get your very own belly button ring however it suits you! These piercings are a blast, just make sure you properly clean and care for it as it can become infected without proper attention!
If you liked these belly button piercings, but want to dive even deeper into the world of body piercing, take a look at some extreme piercings that will make you feel all the feels. It’s truly remarkable how far people will go with their piercings and you need to see it to believe it. Discover the wildest piercings ever below:
The Whole Hip
This piercing looks painful and that’s apparently because it is. Microdermal implants allow you to pierce just about any part of the body. The jeweled top is anchored to a base that’s implanted under the skin. This piercing covers the whole hip, meaning that this one comes with far more pain than anyone might think. This one is definitely wild.
All the Lip
Some of these piercings go right through the middle of the bottom lip, and the others sit just underneath it. Either way, these piercings give anyone who has them something to be remembered by. These piercings are definitely bold and have some edge to them and with a total of about 10 extra holes in your face, it’s a look.
This one is absolutely insane, it’s a piercing that goes right through your eyelid. It’s also extremely risky seeing as it could easily be infected and risk you losing your eyesight. This piercing is absolutely one of the stranger ones and it makes you wonder why someone would decide to get this piercing. Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder.
The gum piercings are almost painful to look at. No matter what shape or size they take, these look like something you’d see in a movie. They definitely look like they’d be really painful to have done but for people who can bear that pain, it’s absolutely a unique look that’ll definitely be a conversation piece sometime in the future.
This next choice is a bold one because it’s an implant/piercing right between the breast despite how simple it looks, it does look like it could be a bit painful. While it’s true that is definitely a popular place for tattoos, these kinds of piercings come as more of a surprise. They do employ a certain sense of edginess.
This piercing definitely isn’t one that you see every day, it just happens to be directly on the tip of the nose. Its unique location and orientation make it a standout choice for those who want to have a unique topic of conversation. This piercing is for people who want a look that lets people know how unique they are.
This pair of piercings look a little less intense than any of the others, it’s a vertical bridge piercing right through the skin of the forehead. These two in particular are bright blue and bright pink in color, and it’s easy to come to the conclusion that these aren’t the only colors this piercing can come in. It’s a looker.
These piercings add a few extra holes to your nose and stretch them out a little wider than normal. If you’ve ever wanted to stick a pencil through your nose, then this is the piercing for you. All you need to do is to pierce both nostrils and stretch them over time until you’ve got gaping holes in your nose.
Finger Web Piercings
These hand piercings are definitely a sight to behold. Here there’s a total of about five piercings that kinda make you wanna squirm. But there’s definitely a very bold few who might be looking for this kind of edginess in their lives. Now we’ll be honest, this one isn’t for all of us. If it’s for you, go for it.
This one is just like the finger web piercing, except it’s on your foot instead. This one is a little less extreme than the one on your hand, but the concept is still the very same. It’s possible that the person who got this piercing wanted it to be a bit more subtle to keep it their little secret. It’s valid!
This piercing might just turn you into the greek legend that it’s named after. This is a stretched Achilles, and it puts what almost looks like a ball bearing right through your heel. It’s a bit strange to look at, but if you’re looking to put a hole through your foot, then this is absolutely the one piercing for you.
This piercing is another of the unique choices on this list. It’s a pair of piercings that go right through the top and underside of the chin. This one is definitely a unique choice for anyone, and it certainly looks like it could be painful. But hey, everyone has their own style. So this is definitely a choice for some.
A Lot of Chin
This person’s piercings are a set of three chin piercings, as well as a pair of fang piercings on the upper lip. It definitely shows that this person is afraid of the extreme. These piercings are cool, and they definitely give this guy something to talk about, and something to be remembered by. His “fangs” will definitely stick with you.
This piercing is styled after the back of a corset, and with the ribbon that is pulled through each set of hoops, it does a successful job at living up to its name. This “corset piercing” specifically is made up of 14 separate dermal piercings, and the ribbons that connect them certainly add a bit of customization to the person’s preference.
Corset Part II
This corset piercing is a bit more extreme. Here we count at least thirty-three separate dermal piercings in the back, and this time the ribbon that goes through them is pulled through in an even more intricate pattern than the last one. That does bring up a question, do they prefer to sleep on their side, or on their back?
Here’s another set of lip piercing, this one is pretty symmetrical too. We count a total of seven points of piercings in this one, and it’s a valid voice that some people make for themselves. This piercing is perfect for people who have a certain style, and for those who excel at it, they can pull it off pretty well.
This piercing is a little like the nose piercing we showed you earlier, except this time it’s an ear piercing. This gauge piercing is stretched open pretty wide, so much so that you might actually be able to fit your wrist like a bracelet. It’s wild and one of the biggest stretches among these extreme piercings. It’s a unique choice.
Straight Through the Cheeks
This piercing goes right through both cheeks. Of course, it raises some questions when it comes to logistics, but to each their own, right? This piercing probably isn’t one you leave in when you go to sleep, can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be. But hey, if you’re down for the trials and tribulation, do what you gotta do.
All the black jewelry here definitely makes these piercings look a little more extreme, but these are definitely a little tamer than some of the things we’ve already shown you today. There are at least seven piercings in the mouth area alone. All these piercings give this guy a unique look and it just how much variation there can be.
Among the number of extreme piercings here, the one that stands out most is absolutely the bridge piercing. Because you don’t usually see this area pierced or gauged, seeing it will leave it in your mind for a while. This piercing has also changed the shape of this person’s nose in a very interesting way. It’s sure to stand out.
Once again this piercing is just one of a few extreme piercings that this person decided to get. This person’s lobe is both weighted and stretched out. Ear weights are a popular tool for people with extreme piercings. Among the others, however, is the piercing beneath the lip that has a very prominent shape and size among the rest. Cool?
This one is called a sub-dermal piercing, and it’s implanted right underneath the skin on the back of the hand. It’s a silicone shape that’s implanted underneath the skin to give it a raised appearance. This one in particular looks kind of like a gear. This one is unique, it’s not something that you see very often, it’s kinda wild.
This is an example of a stretched septum. You can actually see the edge of the gauge through both sides of the face. This also isn’t the only extreme piercing that this person has, we can see another bridge piercing, as well as another chin piercing here too. There are also a few smaller piercings that draw less attention overall.
Dual Stretched Tongue Frenulum
Here’s a dual stretched tongue frenulum piercings because nothing is off-limits. These two are definitely a bit more out of the box. There’s also the piercing on the underside of the tongue that kinda pulls the who look together. It’s absolutely not something that the everyday person would get, and the people looking for something more unique would look here.
The Smiley piercings are a lip frenulum piercing through the hood of flesh underneath the lip, this one is a bit more common to see than the tongue frenulum piercing. When they smile, the person they’re looking at is gonna get a good look at this one. It’s a little less extreme and the name is also pretty cute too.
Just like the studded hip piercing, we showed earlier, you can also get dermal piercings in other places. This guy got them in his forearms, which is definitely a very unique choice. Either way, these piercings are pretty cool to look at, but we can’t imagine the amount of pain this guy was in when he was getting these done.
This piercing goes right through the tip of the tongue. Overall it’s a pretty simple piercing that goes horizontally. It’s called a snake eye, or a venom piercing and we can definitely see why. This one doesn’t look like it’d hurt too much, but who knows, we haven’t gotten one done. This piercing actually matches the one in his nose.
These show that stretched labrets aren’t only for your nose, but also for your cheeks and the skin on the chin around them. While it is possible that these could complicate eating and drinking, we can’t really tell. These piercings definitely give the person a unique look when they walk away. There’s a whole lot of customization with this piercing.
Back of the Neck
These subdermal piercings in the back of the neck give a whole new meaning to the phrase “I’ve got eyes in the back of my head.” These piercings seem to be a lot tamer than some of the other piercings on the list. It’s a pair of really simple piercings that make a great conversation piece in a conversation.
Extremely Extreme Cheeks
These piercings are absolutely on the more extreme side of this list. That’s specifically because you can see right through the cheek and get a look at the teeth even when the mouth is closed. This piercing isn’t one that you see every day, it’s like something out of fantasy.
While a tooth implant isn’t necessarily a piercing, it’s still found its way onto this list. It is another means to the same end. It absolutely adds some personal flair. If you want to add a pearl to your pearly whites, this is one way to do it. We’re sure that the customization possibilities here are endless, so accessorize away!

Through the Jaw?
This piercing goes straight through the bottom of the mouth, which is a bit puzzling because how does that not leak? This one definitely isn’t one that comes to mind when you’re thinking about piercings. It’s a unique choice, that’s also quite unusual to see. In any case, this piercing is one of those that’ll always make you stand out.
This guy’s piercings are a bit much, but for the most part, they’re a combination of the ones that we’ve seen already and this just goes on to reinforce the idea that if you want to get something pierced, then you probably can. Not only is there a lot of metal here, there’s also a whole bunch of his personality.
Now this one is a little bit much. This guy has a set of three horizontal bars placed over both of his eyes and going through his eyelids. It’s a bit wild to see honestly, and this one will stay with you even after you walk away from a conversation with him. We can say that this isn’t for everyone.
This piercing goes right through the uvula. It’s definitely a unique piercing to get a piercing and we don’t think that there are a lot of people that would go for it. But to the special people that do, it’s absolutely a little secret that you can keep for yourself. This piercing is one for those that are a little braver.
There you go! 35 terrifying, bizarre, and extreme piercings that prove anything is possible! If you’re not utterly horrified, you might be inspired to get a piercing yourself! Yay! We’re glad something good came of this. If you’d like to see more thrilling piercings, keep scrolling below to experience even more strangeness.
Put Your Neck Out
This isn’t so bad, right? Just some surface piercings on the back of the neck. Do you have to sleep on your stomach until these heal?
That Poor Lobe
Why go through your lobe just once when you can do it twice? We don’t know why someone would want a piece of metal jammed through the lobe like this, but we support your personal choices, people.
Okay. These surface piercings really aren’t all that scary. These in the center of the chest are a nice touch.
What is the Purpose of a Nose?
Here’s where things start to get a little crazy. We’ve got a subdermal here on the hand, and two stretched holes in the nostrils. Who needs them, anyway? Oh, and what you’ve always wanted, a gaping hole in your chin.
Right Through the Old Gobbler
Nope! This looks like attempted murder. Who would… You know what? Do you, girl.
Well, we’ve got some more piercings in the neck, this time we are treated to four rings. Oof.
This lid deserves revenge. Who would want to do this? Why? Ouch!
This is a crime. The person with these piercings claims they are bars that go beneath the clavicle which seems more like surgery than piercings to us.
When You’re Smiling, When You’re Smiling
Here’s a smiley piercing and after what we just saw, it’s not looking so outrageous. Wouldn’t most people with this need to physically lift their lip up like this to show it off?
Through the Cheek
You know, nothing surprises us at this point. If you want to impale your cheek, go right ahead.
This is called a bridge piercing. Not because it creates a visual bridge between the eyes, but because it goes straight through the bridge of the nose.
Do people with this many piercings get sensitive around magnets? There’s no need to stop at one septum ring, it turns out you can shove about half a dozen in there.
We Don’t Understand Things
They make regular rings that are specifically made to fit on pinkies. You don’t have to go shoving metal into yourself, but you’re clearly free to.
Nope. We don’t want a tongue that looks like a literal pin cushion. Please bear with us as we take a moment to consider the mysteries of life.
Here is a surface tragus because through the ear is just too boring. No, right in front of the ear on the cheek is just right.
What is Happening?
These metal ear coverings make the bottom part of this person’s ear look like it’s been chopped off. We don’t know why and frankly, not going to care.
We’ve seen some people some pretty gauges in their ears, but this one the size of a salad plate takes the cake. Who knew skin could possibly stretch this much?
Lots of Holes
Subdermal implants are pretty wild as you can see they give this person the appearance of having baby deer horns. It looks like those or the piercings through the forehead would be some of the most painful.
One Holey Ear
This ear deserves a refund. It did not sign up for this.
The Nose Knows
Yes, you can get a nasal piercing that runs all the way through your nose, because who needs sinuses or air?
Put Us in the Dirt
We’re getting pretty traumatized at this point and we hope you’re hanging in there. What has this individual done to their ears? Why would you want giant holes in your nose? Sigh.
Punk’s clearly not dead. This man went and got a row of spikes implanted in his head. Also, the red-dyed goatee is somehow the most ridiculous thing in this photo.
