When Beyoncé announced her Renaissance World Tour in February, many fans were wondering if they would see her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, make an appearance. It’s something we’ve seen more and more of in recent years, including performing alongside her mother at the 94th Academy Awards last year.
The highly-anticipated world tour – which is Beyoncé’s first tour since The Formation World Tour in 2016 – kicked off on May 10, 2023 at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. Blue Ivy didn’t make an appearance on-stage, but she was spotted in the crowd with her father, Jay-Z, during the opening night of the tour.
On Friday (May 26), Beyoncé took to Saint-Denis – a small suburb in Paris, France – for the sixth leg of her world tour at Stade de France. While performing ‘My Power’ and ‘Black Parade,’ Beyoncé welcomed her daughter on-stage – much to the audience’s surprise, who gave the 11-year-old a standing ovation.
“Give it up for Blue,” Beyoncé shouted as the crowd went wild. She was wearing a silver jumpsuit, similar to what the background dancers were wearing, and was seen dancing along with the choreography. It wasn’t long before her name was trending online as videos began to surface of her surprise appearance.
It was fitting to see Blue Ivy perform in Paris, considering it’s the city she was conceived in nearly 12 years ago. Jay-Z and Beyoncé had been trying to have a baby, but the couple suffered a miscarriage in 2010. Blue Ivy was their rainbow baby and was born on January 7, 2012 – she turned 11 earlier this year.
Now that Blue Ivy Carter is getting older, she’s starting to make more and more public appearances – and performances – with her parents. She most recently performed ‘Be Alive’ with her mother at the 94th Academy Awards (Oscars) in March 2022, where she was again seen with the backup dancers.
Prior to that, the mother-daughter duo shared the stage during an invitation-only concert in Dubai in January 2022. They performed a duet of the song ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ a song that helped Blue Ivy become the second-youngest Grammy Award winner of all-time – she has a writing credit on the popular song.
Beyoncé’s Mother On-Hand to See Blue Ivy Carter On-Stage
There were more than 70,000 fans in attendance to see Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter perform in Paris, France on May 26. One of those fans in attendance was Tina Knowles-Lawson – the mother of Beyoncé and grandmother of Blue Ivy – and she took to Instagram to share videos of her family on-stage.
“Last night I saw my beautiful grandbaby (11) dance in the front of almost 70 thousand people ! She killed it and was as cool as a cucumber!” she wrote in an Instagram caption – adding that she has ‘no fear’ as she took the stage and raised her fist in the air. It was a proud moment for a very proud grandmother.
In a separate post, Lawson-Knowles commended her granddaughter for her courage and bravery – adding that she ‘danced with professional dancers’ and ‘did complicated choreography.’ And while it took the professionals several months to learn and practice, Blue Ivy learned it all in just over one week.
