The world is heartbroken after reports shared devastating news about legendary TV host Bob Barker.
According to several confirmed reports, it has been shared that at 99 years old, Bob Barker has passed away.
While not much is known about his passing at this time, his representatives have shared a statement on August 26.
“19-time Emmy-winning, Legendary Television & Game Show Host Bob Barker has died at the age of 99. Roger Neal who served as Barker’s publicist from 1987 thru 1994 & again from 2020 announced today on behalf of Nancy Burnet his longtime friend.”
Now, less than a day after news of his passing was made public, Barker’s girlfriend Nancy Burnet is speaking out for the first time. As Burnet’s statement alluded to, Burnet and Barker bonded over their love of animals and advocating for them.
“I am so proud of the trailblazing work Barker and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally.”
She continued, “We were great friends over these 40 years. He will be missed.”
Barker’s cause of death is still not known at the time, but those he has worked with in the past have continued to remember him with tributes on social media.
“Modern Family” star Julie Bowen who worked with Barker on the set of the cult classic “Happy Gilmore” took to Instagram to pay her respects.
“I will never forget Adam convincing Bob Barker to say the iconic line, ‘the price is WRONG, bi*ch!’ Bob was kind and polite and had declined to say the line, but he got swept up in the hilarious fight scene between him and Happy, he just…said it. It’s one of my favorite filming memories ever. In honor of Bob: please remember to spay and neuter your pets. RIP Bob.”
Similarly, Adam Sandler also remembered Bob on Instagram.
“The man. The myth. The best. Such a sweet funny guy to hang out with. Loved talking to him. Loved laughing with him. Loved him kicking the crap out of me. He will be missed by everyone I know! Heartbreaking day. Love to Bob always and his family! Thanks for all you gave us!”
And Drew Carey, who took over hosting The Price Is Right, also shared his condolences.
“Very sad day for the Price Is Right family, and animal lovers all over the world. There hasn’t been a day on set that I didn’t think of Bob Barker and thank him. I will carry his memory in my heart forever. #RIPBobBarker We love you.”
