Bre Tiesi Explains Why Nick Cannon Isn’t Required to Pay Child Support – And Why She Doesn’t Need It

Bre Tiesi, who rose to prominence after welcoming a child with Nick Cannon, is starting to make a name for herself in the real estate community. The model joined the cast of Selling Sunset – a reality TV show about a group of real estate agents in the Los Angeles area – for Season 6, which premiered recently.

Tiesi gave birth to Legendary Love Cannon on June 28, 2022 – at the time, Tiesi confirmed that she has been dating Nick Cannon on and off for years. While this was Tiesi’s first child, it was the eighth child for Cannon and he went on to welcome four more children with four different women between then and now.

Several weeks after giving birth to Legendary Love, Tiesi began filming Season 6 of Selling Sunset. At the time, she had a feeling her relationship with Nick Cannon would be at the heart of the drama with the other real estate agents – and she was right. All 11 episodes of Season 6 were released on May 19.

It didn’t take long for that drama to start, either. In the third episode, Chelsea Lazkani asks Bre Tiesi how she makes her relationship with Nick Cannon work. She described it as an ‘open relationship,’ but doesn’t necessarily consider herself single – she went on to describe her ‘situation’ with Cannon as ‘interesting.’

When asked if she would ever consider a polygamous relationship, Tiesi was quick to decline. “I don’t know about that. I just know we had a baby, we’re really happy, so I’m really happy in my relationship now,” she told Lazkani. The drama between the two didn’t start to escalate until the fourth episode.

Tiesi eventually finds out that Lazkani was talking bad about her relationship with Cannon behind her back. Lazkani called the relationship ‘off-putting’ and said it was one of the reasons why she feels she’ll never be ‘super close friends’ with Tiesi – who confronts Lazkani about the comments in Episode 8.

“You don’t need to agree with my situation, this is my situation. I’m not going to have people in this office talk about my family. I’m not,” she said to Lazkani during a dinner date in Palm Springs. She echoed that sentiment to the other girls, telling them to mind their business and demanding they show her respect.

Why Doesn’t Nick Cannon Pay Child Support?

At one point during the seventh episode, Bre Tiesi was asked by costar Amanza Smith if Nick Cannon has to pay child support – a burning question by many, considering he has 12 children. Smith was curious about a rumor she heard, which says fathers aren’t required to pay child support after having 10 children.

Tiesi said the rumor was true, but it’s not always that simple. “The way it works is like, after 10, the court can basically say he can’t afford to pay child support. Or because he is who he is, they could say, ‘We know you can afford X amount for each household,’” she explained – though her lawyer doesn’t agree.

After the comment went viral following the release of Season 6, Tiesi’s lawyer chimed in and confirmed that Cannon is obligated to pay child support under California law, but didn’t provide any details about his arrangements with the mothers of his children. Nonetheless, Tiesi says she doesn’t want or need it.

“I definitely strive to be the best at everything, to the point where I drive myself insane, but I’ve worked my a** off to be where I’m at. I did this all myself, and of course, my son is even more of a motivation. I want to give him everything from me. Not from my partner,” Tiesi said of her supporting her son by herself.
