BREAKING: Human Remains Found Near Brian Laundrie’s Personal Item Confirmed to Be His

BREAKING: The FBI is confirming that the bones discovered on October 20 did belong to Brian Laundrie. The authorities confirmed his identity through dental records. His cause of death has not been revealed.

New reports are revealing that the human remains found near Brian Laundrie’s backpack and notebook were actually bones. According to Fox News, a source allegedly familiar with the case confirmed to the news station that it was skeletal remains that were discovered on October 20.

During a press conference held by the FBI following the discovery, Michael McPherson, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Tampa division revealed that the backpack and notebook “were found in an area that, up until recently, had been underwater. Our evidence response team is on the scene using all available forensic resources to process the area. It’s likely the team will be on scene for several days.”

It Could Be Days Before the Bones Found Near Brian Laundrie’s Personal Items Are Identified

Due to the fact that the area had been underwater and because of the fact that alligators, snakes, and other wildlife frequent Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, it’s unclear how much of the backpack and notebook are intact. However, the Laundrie’s lawyer, Steven Bertolino said in a statement released during the early morning hours of October 21 that the “probability is high” that the bones found near his personal items do belong to Brian Laundrie.

The identity of the bones has not been confirmed by any law enforcement officials. And given the fact that it was skeletal remains that were discovered, identifying them could take days.

Brian Laundrie has been missing since September 13, according to his parents. They reported his disappearance to law enforcement on September 17 and told them that Brian frequents Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.

Brian Laundrie is a wanted man for reportedly making unauthorized charges on Gabby Petito‘s credit card. He is also the only person of interest in her murder.

It is believed that Laundrie was the last person to see his fiancée, Gabby Petito, alive. The couple was on a cross-country trip together documenting their travels.

Petito had purchased a white Ford van, which they modified together so that they could live out of it during their travels. However, at some point, the trip turned into a tragedy and on September 19, Gabby Petito was found strangled to death.

The last time her parents verbally heard from Gabby was on August 25. The coroner who performed the autopsy revealed her cause of death as strangulation and said he believed Gabby was deceased for 3 to 4 weeks before she was found.

This discovery came 18 days after Brian Laundrie returned back to Florida on September 1 in the white van without Petito with him. Mamas Uncut will offer additional information as it becomes known.
