Is the fight for Britney Spears over? According to CNN, on Tuesday, September 7, Jamie Spears filed a petition to end Britney’s 13-year-long conservatorship. The filing was obtained by CNN and reportedly cited the pleas Britney Spears made in court on two separate occasions.
Britney Spears’ Father Makes Shocking Move to End Her Conservatorship
Per CNN, the petition reads, in part:
“Ms. Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship. She wants to be able to make decisions regarding her own medical care, deciding when, where and how often to get therapy. She wants to control the money she has made from her career and spend it without supervision or oversight. She wants to be able to get married and have a baby, if she so chooses. In short, she wants to live her life as she chooses without the constraints of a conservator or court proceeding.”
The petition further states that Jamie has only ever done what he thought was right for Britney and now he wants to effectively end the conservatorship she has been under for the last 13 years.
“As Mr. Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter. If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, this shocking turn of events comes after Britney Spears’ attorney filed allegations against Jaime, claiming that he attempted to extort $2 million from his daughter’s conservatorship. According to Rosengart, Jaime’s response to Britney’s request to remove him as her conservator amounted to “quid pro quo.”
It also comes after reports suggest that Britney Spears and her boyfriend of 6 years Sam Asghari may be engaged soon. According to a source who talked with E! News, Sam Asghari was recently seen jewelry shopping at the ever-popular jewelry store, Cartier.
However, as Britney revealed in one of her two testimonies, the conservatorship she has been under has reportedly made it difficult for her and Sam to take their relationship to the next level and start a family.
Nonetheless, it seems like all of that may soon be possible with this new update.
