A source is confirming that Britney Spears’ dad is working to find a lawyer so that his newly engaged daughter will have a prenup before she says “I do.” According to People, a source has confirmed that because Jaime Spears is still technically Britney Spears’ conservator, he is looking for a lawyer to draw up a prenup for his daughter.
As Mamas Uncut reported on September 12, Britney Spears and her beau of 6 years, Sam Asghari, are now engaged to be married. Asghari proposed with a massive diamond ring.
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Respond to Prenup Comments
Asghari’s manager Brandon Cohen revealed that Spears’ new ring was designed by N.Y.C. jeweler Roman Malayev.
After announcing the big news on her Instagram, her followers revealed that they couldn’t be happier for her. However, a slew of commenters also encouraged Spears to have a prenup prior to becoming Mrs. Asghari.
One of those commenters was actress Octavia Spencer. “Make him sign a prenup,” she wrote.
And as People revealed, a source says Britney already knows how important a prenup is. “Britney is already working on a prenup. She understands that this is necessary,” the source revealed.
An additional source further elaborated to People that Jaime must be involved in the process since he is still the conservator of her estate. “Jamie is working on finding a lawyer to do the prenup. Because it involves finances and he’s still officially Britney’s estate conservator, he is figuring out the details. It has to be a divorce lawyer who handles the prenup.”
As Mamas Uncut also reported, last week, Jaime filed a petition to end Britney’s 13-year conservatorship. However, no date has been set as to when the conservatorship might end.
Asghari took note of all the prenup comments and responded. Good news is, is that he’s also on board with signing a prenup.
“Thank you to everyone who is concerned about the prenup,” he wrote along with two crying-laughing emojis. “Of course, we’re getting an ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.” He also replied to Spencer’s comment with a “100” emoji.
Both Spears and Asghari look extremely happy in the series of videos Spears edited together to announce the engagement. She captioned the videos saying, “I can’t f*cking believe it!!!”
