Brittani Boren Leach Pays Tribute to Late Son, Crew, Who Passed Away Three Years Ago

It was Christmas Day in 2019 when Brittani Boren Leach and her husband, Jeff Leach, laid their son, Crew – three months old at the time – down for a nap. Not long after, the parents realized their son was unresponsive and immediately rushed him to the hospital. Crew passed away two days after Christmas.

Three years later, Brittani and Jeff are still trying to learn how to live without their son. The couple took to Instagram over the holiday to pay tribute to and honor Crew on the day that he passed away. In doing so, they shared the moment they were forced to say goodbye to a son they only knew for three months.

“Three years ago tomorrow we said our final goodbye to our precious boy. How do you say goodbye to your child for the last time? I don’t know,” said Brittani Boren Leach in an Instagram Story – with the song ‘Homesick’ by MercyMe playing in the background. It was a heart-wrenching and harrowing scene.

On the day after Christmas, Brittani Boren Leach shared a few photos of her son in an Instagram post – one of which showed Crew with a big smile on his face, laying down next to a couple of Christmas presents. In the caption, Brittani shared some sweet, heartwarming, and touching words for her late son.

“When the sun sets and the chaos of the day disappears, that’s when I miss you the most. I imagine you celebrating Jesus’ birthday in the most beautiful way, looking down at us with your sweet little grin. And as the day comes to an end, I know we are just one more Christmas closer to you,” she wrote in the caption.

This comes just a few months after Brittani Boren Leach took to Instagram to wish her son a Happy Birthday – he was born on September 14, 2019. She shared a digital photo of her family, including Crew with a halo. In the caption, she urged others to ‘bring a little kindness to the world today in honor of him.’

“I wish I could see him now, at 3 years old, to know what he looks like, or what his birthday table would look like this year, and to know what it feels like to have him curl up in my lap and wrap his arms around my neck. I’m sure that Heaven is having the most beautiful celebration for him today, but I selfishly wish he was here instead,” she wrote.

Brittani Boren Leach Recently Welcomed Her Sixth Baby

Brittani Boren Leach and Jeff Leach met each other on an online dating site and quickly sparked a romantic relationship with one another – both Brittani and Jeff were going through a separation at the time. By October 2015, the two decided to get married and later started to build a family together.

By the time they had Crew in September 2019, the couple was already parents to three sons – Carter, Cooper, and Cash. They welcomed baby boy No. 5, Cole, in November 2020, just 10 months after Crew passed away. In February 2022, they announced they were pregnant again with baby No. 6.

Their most recent son, which they named Cam, was born on September 9, 2022 – just five days before Crew’s third birthday. He measured 7 lbs., 3 oz., and 20 inches. While the couple was left to think about what could’ve been with their late son, they were also left to wonder what might be with their new son.
