A new year means a new baby for actress, Cameron Diaz, and husband, Benji Madden. Cameron, 47, welcomed her first child and posted about it to her Instagram account. Benji, 40, is the lead guitarist for the band, Good Charlotte.
The couple has been married since 2015 and they live in Beverly Hills. They’ve named their newborn girl, Raddix Madden. Although they made the announcement for fans on Instagram, they did not include any photos of their newest addition to the family.

Just days into 2020 Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden both posted their baby news on Instagram.
“Happy New Year from the Maddens!” Diaz and Madden began the post. “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
“While we are overjoyed to share the news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really cute!! Some would even say RAD:)” the post continues, “From our family to all of yours, we’re sending our love and best wishes for a Happy New Year and Happy New Decade.”
We’re so excited for Cameron and Benji. What a great way to start off the 2020s.
We respect their privacy and always think it’s smart for celebrity parents to do what they think is best for their child. It’s not just their Raddix’s privacy the couple is protective of. They’ve been notoriously hush-hush about their relationship.
Way back in 2016, Cameron posted a video of Benji performing with his band.
Along with the video of Benji performing, Cameron shared a sweet caption. She said, in part, “One of my favorite things about being married, is how much pride I take in my husband.”
Fans got another taste back in 2017 when Benji posted a sweet Birthday tribute to Cameron.
Benji posted a photo of the couple embracing on a boat with the caption, “Happy Birthday to my Beautiful Wife ❤️ I feel like I am the LUCKIEST guy ALIVE❤️ I don’t think anyone could ever know the Depth, Kindness, and Compassion that I get to experience everyday thanks to My One and Only- You got me til the end baby❤️❤️❤️.”
It was a glimpse into their relationship and the only other time the couple has really posted about one another.
Before getting married, Cameron held different opinions about becoming a mother.
Back in 2014, Cameron told Esquire that she “was never drawn to being a mother.”
Ahead of her marriage, she had more to tell the magazine, “Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn’t make it an easy decision,” she said at the time, adding it was “so much more work to have children … lives besides your own that you are responsible for.”
“I have it much easier than [moms],” Diaz said. “Doesn’t mean life isn’t sometimes hard. I’m just what I am. I work on what I am. Right now, I think, things are good for me. I’ve done a lot. And I don’t care anymore.”
Sometimes motherhood seems like the right idea when you find the right person to do it with.
We’re happy that Cameron decided that being a mother was right for her. We all have misgivings, especially when it comes to something as monumental as bringing a child into this world.
It’s got to be such an exciting time for this growing family and although we don’t expect to see any pictures of baby Raddix any time soon, we know that Cameron’s already being a great mom by protecting her child’s privacy.
Congrats, Cameron!
