It turns out that the most recent person to get arrested as a result of their involvement with the Capitol riots did so because he was trying to find a date. According to Axios, Robert Chapman was arrested on April 22 after he was turned in by someone he had just met.
As it turns out, Chapman, a New York City resident, was an active participant on the dating app known as Bumble. Bumble put women in the driver’s seat so that once they match with someone, it is the woman who has to make the first move in terms of starting a conversation.

However, when Chapman began talking to a woman on the app, he reportedly opened up about his January 6th experience, the Washington Post reported. It’s unclear how Chapman got on the topic, but he allegedly told his “match” that he was one of the thousands to actually enter into the United States Capitol building.
Chapman went as far as to mention that he “made it all the way to Statuary Hall.” After realizing exactly the type of person she was talking to, the woman was quite blunt with Chapman, telling him they are definitely “not a match,” and immediately turned him into the police.
Additional sleuthing by the Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed that Chapman had allegedly bragged about his involvement in the riots on social media before. Under the name, Robert Erick wrote comments about taking action rather than hiding behind a keyboard.
“[T]he rotten apple. Gonna go down to the District of Criminality to [e]njoy some much deserved entertainment,” one of his posts read. He also revealed to his social media following that he was, in fact, inside the Capitol, NBC 4 reports.
As a result of his arrest, Chapman was charged with trespassing and disrupting government operations. The person responsible for his arrest is remaining anonymous.
