Is Seeing the Birth of His Child More Important Than a Football Game? Not for Colts QB Carson Wentz

The Indianapolis Colts are preparing to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, November 14. Currently, the Colts, under the leadership of quarterback Carson Wentz, boast a losing record of 4-5, which could be why the soon-to-be father of two has made this decision.

As a result, the Colts are second in the AFC South, behind the 7-2 Tennessee Titans. Regardless of a Week 10-win or a Week 10-loss, the Colts will remain in second place even though the Jaguars are in third place with only a 2-6 record.

Carson Wentz Says He’ll Choose Football Game If Wife Goes Into Labor on Sunday

With that said, Carson Wentz made it very clear that he is not missing out on the chance of leading his team back to a .500 record. Not even if his wife goes into labor.

As USA Today reports, Wentz and his wife, Madison, are currently expecting their second child together. The couple welcomed their daughter, Hadley, into the world back in 2020.

Madison is due to give birth to their second child any day now, meaning the big day could be this coming Sunday when the Colts take on the Jaguars. But as Wentz revealed to reporters, he is commented to the game against the Jaguars and will forgo seeing his child born if that’s what it comes down to.

“I talked to Coach about it early this week, I could get a call at any point here,” Carson Wentz said. “We’re excited. We’re excited as a family.”

Wentz continued by revealing he discussed not being present for the birth of their second daughter with his wife. Madison is reportedly okay with the decision Wentz has made.

“If it comes down to the game, I told my wife ‘I’m playing, and then I’ll come see you at the hospital afterward,’” Wentz said. “She knew that. She’s been great. … I think God will time it up the way it’s supposed to be timed.”

Wentz’s teammate, DeForest Buckner, said he understood Wentz’s decision to miss his child being born, adding if he was in the same position, Buckner’s wife would probably do the same thing. “My wife would probably be telling me to go play,” Buckner said.

“It just shows the type of mentality that Carson has, it’s all about the team, he’s going to do whatever it takes to be out there Sunday.” Carson Wentz and Madison first announced they were expecting a second daughter in July.
