Advice Summary

Have You Contracted COVID-19? What Was Your Experience? And If So, How Did You Keep Your Family Safe?

The community offered this mom in need a lot of great advice. Read some of their responses below.

“I was never diagnosed but I’m pretty sure I had it in January. Everyone in my house was sick for 2-3 weeks. My 2 youngest daughters, 2 years and 6 months both wound up in the hospital for fluids… myself my SO and 10-year-old did fairly well… no hospitalization for us 3 but it was a very rough 2-3 weeks.”

“I had it in March and tested positive. (I was 26 weeks pregnant at the time.) For those saying to go to the hospital and keep your family at home safe obviously don’t realize that’s not up to you. They won’t hospitalize you unless necessary. Protocol is to make you quarantine at home with your family for 14 days…

… My husband, my 2.5-year-old, and I had to quarantine at home for 14 days as I said previously. I tried to quarantine away from them upstairs as much as possible for the first week and wore gloves and a mask when around them. After the first week we basically just did the normal but quarantined to our home. As far as we know neither of them contracted the virus from me.”

“Had it in February. Hubby had it first, then me and then our 15-month-old. I was 5 months pregnant at the time. Hubby and I were sick as a dog for 3 full days with headaches, fatigue, chest congestion, and coughing. Cough lasted 2 weeks more. Baby just had a low fever and was fussy. We now have the COVID antibodies.”

“Almost positive I had it in Feb. I couldn’t walk a block without coughing a lung up. I ended up needing to use my 2.5-year-old’s nebulizer one night. I think hubby had it too. We stayed in our room the whole time and the kids played in their room and just kept their distance. But we were all sick at the same time so… Also, I will add that I’m 36 weeks pregnant. I was about, let’s say, 24 weeks pregnant when I probably had it. And me and peanut are fine.”

“Bf and I both had it last month. It was rougher on me than it was for him. I slept for about 3 days straight. We both started to get better right about at the 2-week mark. We kept the kids at arm’s length as much as possible and they thankfully avoided catching it. My oldest is also considered high risk. Bf and I are both essential workers as well.”
