American Idol Alum Chris Daughtry Cancels Tour After His Daughter’s Unexpected Passing

American Idol alum, Chris Daughtry has canceled his concert tour following a sudden family tragedy. According to People, Daughtry’s 25-year-old stepdaughter, Hannah, has been found dead.

As reports suggest, Nashville, Tennessee police discovered Hannah in her home on Friday, November 12. In a statement given to People, Chris’ team said the singer has postponed the rest of his tour as a result.

“Due to the unexpected death of Chris and Deanna Daughtry’s daughter, Hannah, all currently scheduled shows for the coming week for Daughtry have been postponed. The Daughtry family thanks you for your understanding and respectfully asks for privacy during this very difficult time. Further details will be made available at a later date. The investigation into this tragic death is still ongoing.”

Following the news of Hannah’s unexpected passing, her mom and Chris’s wife, Deanna, took to Instagram on November 13 to share photos of Hannah and a few words about the grief she is feeling. “My firstborn. I love you endlessly Hannah. Our family would like to thank you all for the outpouring of love as we grieve the loss of our daughter Hannah,” Deanna wrote.

The mom further added that they “are awaiting the autopsy results to determine how Hannah sustained the injuries that caused her death. Our hearts are broken.”

Hannah, who recently celebrated her 25th birthday in September, is survived by both of her parents and three younger siblings. The investigation into Hannah’s death is ongoing.

Chris Daughtry has not personally written a statement regarding his daughter’s passing. However, he did share Deanna’s statement on his Instagram story. He also added a series of broken heart emojis.

Deanna and Chris Daughtry first got married in 2000. Hannah, who is from Deanna’s previous relationship, would have been roughly four years old. They just celebrated their 21st anniversary on November 11.

It appears as though Hannah was also a mother herself. Back in March, alongside a photo of her own baby girl, Hannah wrote this about being a mother of two.

“I thank God for the people that I have in my life. I’m so blessed to have my mother, who has taught me so much & has been by my side through thick and thin. She has shown me what true love is and True love requires a lot of sacrifice…my mother is the reason for so many blessings in my life.. including my children having the best lives I could possibly give them. I am also grateful for the two beautiful souls, and very close family friends, who chose to take on my daughter as their own and who are taking the absolute best care of her.”
