Chris Pratt Reveals the Difference Between Raising His Two Daughters, Lyla and Eloise, and Raising His Son, Jack

For the first eight years of his experience with fatherhood, Chris Pratt was a boy dad to his son, Jack – who he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris. Jack was born on August 25, 2012 and will be turning 11 years old later this year. During that time, Pratt grew very familiar with everything that comes with raising a son.

In 2020, that experience started to change when he welcomed his first daughter with his current wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger. Lyla Marie was born on August 10, 2020, a little more than a year after Pratt and Schwarzenegger tied the knot in Montecito, California. At that point, he was officially a girl dad.

On May 21, 2022, the couple welcomed yet another daughter named Eloise Christina, adding to Pratt’s growing family and furthering his experience as a girl dad. While there are plenty of similarities in raising a son and a daughter, there are also plenty of differences and Pratt is finally starting to experience them.

On Wednesday, Chris Pratt joined Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about his newest movie – Super Mario Bros. Movie – in which he’s the voice of Mario. Before they started to talk about the movie, they brought up the fact that Pratt has welcomed two daughters since they last saw each other.

Now that his daughter Lyla is 2 years old and daughter Eloise is 9 months, Pratt believes the difference between being a girl dad and boy dad is crystal clear. “I love it. It’s fantastic,” he said of being a girl dad. “You know, you hear that maybe the experience is different and it really is, in my experience.”

Pratt even gave an example of that difference. “My daughter Lyla is so girly. I picked her up yesterday and she said, ‘Oh Daddy, that’s a cute outfit. Look, you have little cute pockets. That’s not something Jack ever said to me,” he said. Pratt and Meyers joked that it’s nice to be appreciated for things like that.

“Yeah, my boys have not mentioned my pockets once – and I put a lot of work in my pockets,” Meyers joked – to which Chris agreed. “I know! It’s nice to have a little appreciation for the pocket game,” Chris said in response. It’s something to keep in mind before choosing your preference prior to a gender reveal.

Chris Pratt Opens Up About Meeting His Wife

The interview with Seth Meyers comes just a few days after Chris Pratt sat down with Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show. While he was there to promote the new movie, he ended up talking about his wife, how they met, and how love has a way of blossoming rather quickly when you find the one.

He first met Katherine Schwarzenegger at church and it came at a time when Chris was ‘struggling’ and felt ‘really broken’ – having divorced his ex-wife, Anna Faris, recently. While Chris and Katherine didn’t start dating right away, they eventually got to that point and, when they did, things moved very fast.

“You know when you’re doing a puzzle and there’s a piece, and you’re like, ‘I’m certain that’s the piece,’ and then you jam it, and it looks like it should be the piece (but then) you’re like, ‘Oh it’s that one.’ It just fits together. You’re like, ‘Oh, it fits because it was the piece that was made to fit there.’ It felt like that.”

Chris and Katherine started dating in June 2018 and got engaged seven months later – tying the knot in June 2019 after a year together. Now, they have two adorable little girls and are absolutely loving their new life together – which is good, considering where Chris was before he started dating Katherine.
