Chris Pratt Details His Personal Struggles Prior to Meeting Wife Katherine Schwarzenegger: “Shortly Later, I Met the Woman of My Dreams”

Chris Pratt is known for his comedic, goofy, and upbeat personality, but there was a time when that wasn’t the case. That time came after he separated from then-wife Anna Faris. They originally met in 2007, got engaged in 2008, and tied the knot in 2009 before splitting in 2017 and divorcing in 2018.

It didn’t take long for Pratt to meet his next wife. By June 18, he was in a relationship with Katherine Schwarzenegger – the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The couple got engaged on January 13, 2019 and tied the knot on June 8, 2019 in Montecito, CA – roughly one year after they started dating.

Since then, Pratt and Schwarzenegger have added two daughters to their family – Lyla Marie on August 6, 2020 and Eloise Christina on May 21, 2022. His growing family is doing well and there’s a chance he adds to it. Pratt also shares a child – a son named Jack, who was born on August 17, 2012 – with Faris.

On April 4, Chris Pratt appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show and talked about his life over the past few years. While he is as happy as can be at this moment in his life, he shared that it hasn’t always been that way and even detailed a time when he was ‘really struggling and felt really broken’ just a few years ago.

“For me, my own journey, [it was about] finding a higher power and leaning on that and being like, ‘Please save me,’ and then feeling saved. And then shortly later, [I met] the woman of my dreams,” he explained – referring to his wife, Katherine, as the woman of his dreams. When he met her, his entire life changed.

He touched on how their relationship advanced rather quickly and how ‘God has a fast-forward button’ when you meet the right person. Within a blink of the eye, you’re in love and getting married. He also described the moment he first met Katherine – revealing that it was actually in his place of worship.

“I was in the front row of church — which is like, you kind of don’t want to be like, ‘Woah, who’s that?’ at church. You know what I mean? But I was sneaking some glances and wondering, ‘Who is that? Anyway, what am I doing? Come on, I’m broken, help me. But who’s that?'” he explained to Drew Barrymore

Chris Pratt Compares Love to a Puzzle

On The Drew Barrymore Show, Chris Pratt recalled how he and Katherine Schwarzenegger didn’t start dating right away, but they eventually started to hit it off and finally went out. When they finally did, it didn’t take long for things to take the next step – at that point, they knew they were the right ones for each other.

He likened falling in love to doing a puzzle – sometimes you have a piece that looks like it should fit, but it’s not until you find the right piece that you see what it means to fit perfectly. Apparently, Katherine is that perfect puzzle piece that he found. Here’s his exact quote on his love-puzzle comparison:

“You know when you’re doing a puzzle and there’s a piece, and you’re like, ‘I’m certain that’s the piece,’ and then you jam it, and it looks like it should be the piece (but then) you’re like, ‘Oh it’s that one.’ It just fits together. You’re like, ‘Oh, it fits because it was the piece that was made to fit there.’ It felt like that.”
