Chris Rock has finally revealed when he will share his side of the slap heard around the world. While currently in London for his comedy tour, Rock hinted at the idea that he may have a Netflix special coming and that is where he plans to talk about Will Smith slapping him live on the Oscars stage.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, while Smith has since issued a few apologies for his actions at the Oscars, Rock has been fairly tight-lipped about the situation that occurred several months ago. While Rock has previously said that he doesn’t plan to talk about the slap until he “gets paid,” we may now know where the money is coming from.
Chris Rock Updates Crowd on His Hearing and Shares When He Plans to Openly Talk About Being Slapped By Will Smith
While kicking off his show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Thursday, Rock addressed the crowd by saying, “I’m OK, if anybody was wondering.” He also opened up about the injuries he sustained from the slap.
While Mamas Uncut previously reported that Rock revealed he got his hearing back after being slapped in the face by Smith, he told the London audience that he “got MOST of my hearing back.” Then he revealed that he didn’t plan to joke about Smith, but the time and the place is coming.

“People expect me to talk about the b*llsh*t. I’m not going to talk about it right now, I’ll get to it eventually,” Rock said with a smile, likely enjoying stringing people along. “On Netflix,” he confirmed.
However, Rock did slip in a quick dig at Smith toward the end of his show, saying, “Anyone who says ‘words hurt’ has never been punched in the face.”
For those of you unaware, Smith slapped Rock at the Oscars after Rock made a G.I. Jane joke towards Jada Pinkett Smith. Ever since being diagnosed with alopecia, Jada made the decision to shave her head completely.
Now, Will has resigned as a voting member of the Academy and was banned by the Academy for 10 years. He is still allowed to be nominated for any future roles.
Smith issued a formal statement accepting The Academy’s 10-year ban. “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision,” Smith said in a statement obtained by People.
Chris Rock did not press charges against Will Smith. It’s also unclear if the two entertainers have ever talked face to face since the incident.
