“He’s probably the most hated man in that prison because he killed children,” the insider said. “There’s a definite pecking order in jail, and someone who hurts or kills kids is at the very bottom.”

On August 13, 2018, Watts strangled his wife, Shanann, in Colorado at the family home. He buried his wife’s body at an oil company where he worked and then, smothered his daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. He pleaded guilty to the murders and is currently serving a life sentence.

Prosecutors claimed that Watts murdered his wife because of an affair he was having with a co-worker who believed that Chris had ended his relationship with Shanann. Shanann worked hard to repair her marriage which she had grown concerned over but she never feared her husband would take her life.

Watts is being held at Dodge Correctional Institution, a maximum-security prison in Waupun, Wisconsin. He was transferred to Waupun from Colorado because of security concerns.

While it is expected that Chris Watts will appeal his life sentence, he has yet to do so, the source told People. “He’s a young guy, only 36,” the insider said. “So he could live like this for the next 50 years. It’s probably a fate worse than death.”

If he continues to be completely ostracized from others in prison, it’s likely that those “50 years” will not go by quickly.
