Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Welcome Third Child Together on January 13th

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend officially have a family of five. The couple welcomed their third child together on January 13th – a rainbow baby, after suffering a pregnancy loss in 2020. They also share a four-year-old son named Miles Theodore and a six-year-old daughter named Luna Simone together.

Legend announced the news to the crowd at his private concert on Friday night, confirming for the first time that they welcomed “the little baby this morning.” He expressed how tired he was after spending “a lot of time” with his wife at the hospital, adding he “didn’t get a lot of sleep” – a routine feeling for a dad of a newborn.

“What a blessed day,” he remarked to his audience. Once the exciting announcement was made, the stunned crowd immediately took their phones out and shared the news with their social media followers. It didn’t take long before everyone was talking about it and congratulating the now-parents-of-three.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend met during the taping of his music video for ‘Stereo’ in 2006 and announced their engagement five years later – the couple tied the knot in September 2013. Their daughter Luna was born in April 2016, while their son Miles was born two years later in May 2018.

Two years later, the iconic pair announced they were expecting a third child in an Instagram post – though Teigen shared how concerned she was for the fetus’ health. One month later, their soon-to-be son was stillborn at 20 weeks due to partial placenta abruption – a heartbreaking loss after months of preparation.

Teigen shared an Instagram post announcing the pregnancy loss, which included photos of her and Legend embracing their stillborn. We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” the 37-year-old wrote in the heart-wrenching caption at the time.

In October 2020, Teigen opened up about the unfortunate experience in an essay published on Medium – but began with a huge thank you to all those who sent flowers and letters in support. “Notes have flooded in and have each been read with our own teary eyes,” she wrote in an essay that’ll make anyone tear up.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Announced Pregnancy #4 in August

Two years passed between the tragic loss and the couple’s next pregnancy announcement – which came in August 2022. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend began the IVF process in February and were open about the process over the next six months before sharing that she was pregnant (after some hesitation).

“Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still. I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect,” wrote Teigen at the time.

The couple was also open about their two children, who understood what was going on – from the IVF to the pregnancy and eventually having a younger sibling. “They knew from the very, very beginning, and they knew there was a chance it might not work because that’s happened before,” said Teigen in Sept.

John Legend also touched on similar sentiments in a March interview. “We’re all excited and, you know, my kids are old enough to really be aware of what’s happening, so they’re really anticipating having a new sibling in their lives. And I think they’ll be good at being a big sister and big brother,” he said.

Now, they can finally say their third child has arrived!
