Chrissy Teigen announced on Saturday that she’s resumed in vitro fertilization (IVF) a year and a half after suffering a heartbreaking pregnancy loss in 2020.
In a social media post, the cookbook author shared an image of herself engaged in an impressive stretch, draped over a chair, with her leg pressed toward the sky. The image does not hint at the message she included in the caption that updates her followers about her IVF journey.
Chrissy Teigen Says She’s ‘Balls Deep in Another IVF Cycle.’
The caption for the photo addressed some of the rumors that have been swirling about a potential Teigen pregnancy while admitting that she’s undergoing IVF treatments.
“hiiii. I posted about it in my stories, but I wanted to let you guys know I’m balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos,” the caption begins.
“I honestly don’t mind the shots…” Teigen also shared. “They make me feel like a doctor/chemist…but the bloating is a b—ch, so I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant because while I know it’s said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!”
She also took a moment to comment on those who ask others if they’re pregnant unprompted.
“But also like please stop asking people, anyone, if they’re pregnant,” she suggested. “I said this in the comments and got yelled at because the internet is wild but I’d rather be the one to tell you and not some poor woman who will look you in the eyes through tears and that’s how you finally learn. Anyhow, Iove youuuuu??”
E! News captured the image from Teigen’s Instagram stories that showed injectable IVF medications that will be familiar to anyone who has taken IVF meds specifically for egg retrieval.
“Here we go again,” a banner reads on the image along with animated egg and uterus stickers. “Lol,” she also commented.
Many fans commented on her post, saying that they agree with Teigen about asking others if they are pregnant.
“It’s beyond frustrating people feel like it’s okay to ask about pregnancy,” one person shared. “Some people are struggling, some never want kids, some simply are a bit bloated and now feel bad about their body.”
“I will never understand people who ask women if they are pregnant,” another person wrote. “Maybe I am? Maybe I ate a lot of tacos? Maybe I’m going thru something super personal, oh and maybe ITS NONE OF YOUR FREAKIN BUSINESS!”
Through the years, Teigen has been incredibly open about her fertility and IVF struggles as well as discussed postpartum depression. Both of her children, Luna, 5, and Miles, 3, were conceived via IVF.
In September 2021, she paid tribute to her late stillborn, Jack, writing, “and to the son we almost had. a year ago you gave me the greatest pain I could ever imagine to show me I could survive anything, even if I didn’t want to.”

“I didn’t get to take care of you but you came and went to get me to love myself and take care of myself because our bodies are precious and life is a miracle,” she continued. “They told me it would get easier but yeah, that hasn’t started yet. mom and dad love you forever.”
Despite this hardship, Teigen has remained refreshingly candid about motherhood and all of the difficulties that come along with it. We’re so thrilled that she’s continuing to share her IVF journey with fans to let them know that it’s hard but that they are not alone. Also, she’s right, don’t ask anyone if they are pregnant.
