Just a day after John Legend penned a love letter to his wife Chrissy Teigen following his Billboard Music Awards performance, which he dedicated to Teigen, the mom is speaking out for the first time since she issued a statement revealing the loss of her unborn child.
Chrissy Teigen Breaks Silence After Husband John Legend Shared Love Letter to Her
As Teigen revealed at the beginning of October, she and Legend lost their son, Jack, on September 30 after she was diagnosed with a weak placenta and experienced excessive bleeding. Although Teigen completed days of bed rest and multiple blood transfusions, “it just wasn’t enough,” she admitted in her initial statement.
“We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever. To our Jack, I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”
Following her initial statement, both Teigen and Legend grew silent, taking some time to grieve and be with their family in private. Two weeks later, Legend followed through with his commitment to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. He dedicated his performance to Chrissy.
The next day, the father shared his performance on Instagram along with a love note to his wife. In the note, he thanked the world for their well-wishes, but most important praised Teigen for her strength during this difficult time and to let her know that as long as they’re together, they will never break.
It was after Legend shared his note that Teigen spoke out again, if only just to say a few words to let her fans know, she’s doing as good as she can be. Along with screenshots of her husband’s letter to her, Teigen wrote, “We are quiet but we are okay. Love you all so much.”
