Chrissy Teigen Speaks About Having Hired Help During Outbreak and Urges Others to Focus on Less Fortunate

Chrissy Teigen says she feels “incredibly lucky” to have hired help at this time. Many of us are struggling with the new reality which involves social distancing and self-quarantine. It can be difficult with the kids at home and with some in the household without work.

For Teigen and her husband, John Legend, they know the privilege their wealth affords them and appreciate the additional help they’re receiving at this time. They’re sharing responsibilities with Teigen’s mother Vilailuck Teigen aka ‘Pepper Thai’ and a small staff. They all contribute to keeping the household running smoothly and Teigen’s two children Luna and Miles happy and healthy.

Chrissy Teigen knows it’s such an ‘incredibly hard time’ for many right now.

Teigen spoke with Yahoo Entertainment while promoting her new show called Chrissy’s Court. In the interview, Chrissy said, “My mom is still with us and we have [others helping as well].”

“That’s why whenever I get asked like, ‘How are you doing?’ I’m like, I can’t say anything but ‘Great’ because we have so much help. We have really wonderful people around us who are helping our world still go round, where we’re still able to work and take meetings — do these interviews — and get that break where someone else can take your child in the pool. I give an incredible amount of thanks to the people that we have who still want to be here with us.”

Teigen’s household team consists of nannies, a house manager, and several others.

Teigen and Legend’s staff include multiple nannies, several general staff members, and a house manager to oversee operations. That’s way more help than many families have and Teigen knows that.

“You look at the unemployment rates now — we’re almost at 11 million people — and people are struggling to work and pay rent and their landlords are still coming for their rent, which they don’t have money for,” she explained. “We hear that and understand all of it and I can’t imagine the scenario,” she added.

Teigen and her family know how fortunate they are.

When asked how she and her family are “holding up” after the ‘safer at home’ orders were put out in Los Angeles, she said:

“So more than anything, you understand that we are incredibly, incredibly lucky because we really do hear and see everything that other people are going through. It’s such an incredibly hard time for people right now — for a lot of people. It’s such a weird thing to be like: Yeah, we’re good. ‘How are you holding up?’ We’re holding up fine. It’s not us that anybody needs to ask that about, you know?”

When asked about when she started social distancing with her family, she said, “We’ve been doing it since the second they told us to. But I’ve been quarantining mostly my whole life. I’m not an outdoor cat.”

While she’s been able to do virtual press tours right now, she’s also been busy keeping her children entertained. She recently planned a wedding for her daughter, Luna’s stuffed animals.

Both Teigen and Legend have been giving back.

In addition to marrying toys, the model/actor/author/host has been doing a lot of cooking (like the rest of us). She has authored two cookbooks called Cravings and Cravings: Hungry for More and has been sharing recipes from the books to her fans on social media.

Meanwhile, Legend has been sharing the gift song and live streaming performances for his many fans. In addition to soothing with song, the musician has also raised money for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund a charity that supports the World Health Organization.

John Legend has performed and worked with Global Citizen a number of times. According to its website, “Global Citizen is a movement of millions of people taking action to solve the world’s biggest problems. We work in support of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, 17 goals agreed by all countries to end extreme poverty, tackle climate change and reduce inequality by 2030.”

Global Citizen is working to help people around the world as they face the pandemic. While Teigen and Legend might be living in the lap of luxury, they’re still playing their part and helping others during these difficult times.
