“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a****** blocks it.”
Multiple sclerosis is considered an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks its own healthy cells. It affects quality of life and can be disabling.
She later posted to Twitter again, quoting a friend “As one of my friends that has MS said ‘we wake up and take the indicated action’.”
She then requested privacy at this time.
Many users were quick to offer their sympathies and support.
One user commented: “I’ve been fighting Ms since 1998. It is the Snowflake disease. No one patient is the same. My way that I deal with it is don’t let it take over your life. Take it one day at a time. You will have goods and bad days. I feel that there is more good than bad. Tell your own story.”
While another said: “It is a long, strange journey. I was diagnosed 12 years ago (12!?) and I’m still rocking my best life. Recognizing my own limits is really my struggle. I can’t wear heels anymore, but I just can’t throw them out JUST IN CASE, yk? Best of luck on your MS road.”
Followed by: “You will be JUST FINE! Some days are stinky, but after a while, the good days start to win. The 1st year was the toughest. Constant mental body scans, anxiety about every twitch on the body mean a relapse? As your body heals & once you wrap your head around it, it gets easier.”
While another user commented: “So important to have people who ‘get it’ and understand what you are going through. Living in a well persons world with well person rules is not something we can keep up with for long. We just have to live by our new rules. Take care of you. Xo”
Followed by the comment: “We live in a world impatient with anything less than optimal physical and mental function. People hide their own battles because of it. It’s a real problem.”
