It’s no secret that Collin Gosselin has been estranged from his mother, Kate Gosselin for some time now. Ever since he was institutionalized, Kate has made little effort to repair the relationship with her son who lives with his father. The 16-year-old shared a message about his dad, Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend, Colleen Conrad on Mother’s Day that seemed shady to many fans. The message, that was posted to Instagram, praised Conrad without mentioning Kate at all.
Collin’s Instagram account which was public is now private. The change to private is a result of Collin feeling “embarrassed” about the post and the stir it caused. According to Jon, Collin thought his account was private and did not realize that anyone could see his posts.
“It’s the best feeling when your mother or mother figure is one of your best friends and always has your back,” Collin wrote.
On Mother’s Day, Collin shared a picture on Instagram of himself with his arm around Conrad. The sweet image was captioned with a lengthy message:
“Turns out today is Mother’s Day, today we pay love forward to our mothers, but I don’t think mother can describe all the things Colleen has done for me. Yes a mother clothes her children and cooks for them but it’s the best feeling when your mother or mother figure is one of your best friends and always has your back, the one who always shares that laugh of the humor only you guys get.”

Collin’s Mother’s Day tribute to Conrad continues:
“I could call it Mother’s Day, but it’s more than that, Colleen, you are so much more than a mother to me, you are one of my guidelines and one of my guiding lights. Thank you doesn’t say enough, I love you so much and you’ve done so much for me that claims you my strong, happy, loving and awesome mother figure, you’re irreplaceable. Thank you so much Colleen love you so much!!!”
The thoroughly touching message did not include his mother at all.
Sadly, Kate didn’t get any Mother’s Day love in her son’s caption. It turns out, that it was all a big mistake. Jon spoke with Entertainment Tonight and explained that his son had not intended to throw shade.
“He didn’t realize his account was public,” Jon explained. “He wrote a message to Colleen and then, Jordan showed it to me, and I was like, ‘Uhh, hold on a second.’ I was like, ‘Dude, you gotta make that private.'”
And, Collin did just that. Jon went on to say that his son was “embarrassed” by the whole situation.
Collin has been estranged from his mother for years now.
Jon was awarded sole custody of Collin in 2018 and according to Jon, his ex has not made any attempts to mend the relationship with her son. Collin was institutionalized for “health issues” that have never been fully explained. He’s lived with his father and sister, Hannah Gosselin, ever since his release.
In another interview with ET, Jon said there was an “invisible wall” where Hannah, Collin, and Jon are completely separated from Kate and their other siblings.
“I wish that all my kids would just be together, hang out together, go to the mall. Just hang out together,” Jon said at the time. “Kate and I don’t live that far away from each other but I feel like there is an invisible wall. They should be able to just get together. I have no qualms about it. If they want to go meet each other, go ahead. I feel like it’s more on the other side.”
Although it is a source of embarrassment for Collin, we’re happy to see that his relationship with Conrad is so strong.
Conrad and Jon have been dating for a very long time now. It’s great that Collin has a mother figure in his life and that Conrad means so much to him. The sweet post must have meant so much to Conrad, even if the entire world got to see it.
