Los Angeles Police Public Information Officer Jeff Lee told CNN that Heche was driving at high speeds when she hit the home which was then engulfed in flames. It then took first responders more than an hour to extinguish those flames.

A witness told NBC Los Angeles that they watching a “crane to move the car to extract the driver. It was crazy.”

“We really had a multifaceted incident here,” Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Erik Scott explained. We had a significant traffic collision, we had entrapment of a woman inside that, we had a car that erupted into fire, and then we had a home that had significant fire that is red tagged. It’s at this point destroyed.”

Thankfully no one else was injured in the accident. Her rumored ex-boyfriend, Thomas Jane, told the Daily Mail that although she suffered extreme burns and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, she is stable now and expected to pull through.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Anne, one of the true talents of her generation,” said Jane, who dated Heche as recently as 2020, told the Daily Mail. “Thank God no one else was hurt.”
