D.C. Raid of Anti-Abortionist’s Home Leads to Horrific Discovery

A total of five fetuses were discovered in a Washington, D.C. home on March 31 following a raid. According to local police, the home is owned by an anti-abortion activist.

The horrid discovery was made after the homeowner, Lauren Handy, and 8 other people already had federal charges against them. According to BuzzFeed, Handy and the 8 others forced their way into a D.C.-based reproductive health clinic before barricading themselves inside. They reportedly live-streamed the entire incident on Facebook.

The decision to raid Hardy’s home, according to WUSA, came after the authorities received a tip about “potential bio-hazard material in the residence.”

Hardy, who is the director of activism at Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising, reportedly called the clinic and scheduled an appointment under a fake name. When the clinic doors opened, Handy and more forced their way in.

As BuzzFeed reports, the indictment claims that Handy directed her group on what to do during the 2020 incident. She now faces charges of felony conspiracy against rights.

Handy spoke to a reporter while she stood outside her home after it was raided by D.C. police. When the WUSA reporter asked Handy what was going on inside the home, Handy replied by saying, “People will freak out when they hear.”

She further told reports off-camera that she expected this raid would occur. The reporter, Nathan Baca, detailed his experience on Twitter.

While inside Handy’s home, investigators found five fetuses. Where inside the home they were discovered remains unclear to the public at this time.

It also remains unclear where the fetuses came from. However, police now say the fetuses were aborted in accordance with D.C. law.

While this is far from the first time her “activism” has landed her in jail, Handy took to Twitter to reveal she has since been released from police custody and is “safe with friends.”

According to the police, the investigation remains ongoing. As WUSA reports, Handy says Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising is planning a press conference next week to discuss the gruesome discovery.

The fetuses are now with the D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

According to BuzzFeed, a post made by Handy on Facebook in March revealed that in March, she and other activists had allegedly “gained access to the University of Washington’s fetal organ labs and freezers.” However, Kristin Monahan, a member of the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising, allegedly debuted those claims saying, “nothing was taken from the freezers during the group’s activities at the University of Washington.”
