The man captured on camera tackling one of the suspects in the Chiefs Parade Shooting is speaking out.
Trey Filter is a Chiefs fan and a father, who was celebrating the teams victory with his family near Union Station where the shooting began.
While talking with Good Morning America about the moment he realized the shooter was running by him, his wife, Casey, said her “brain tells me, ‘That must be him.’”
“There was a lot of commotion, I could definitely tell that someone was being chased,” Trey recalled. “[I] couldn’t see much but heard ‘Get him,’ saw a flash next to me and I remember I jumped and remember thinking, ‘I hope this is who they were talking about.’”
“We were pretty elated once we knew we had him. They started yelling, ‘There’s a gun, there’s a gun,’ so we were pretty steadfast in holding him down there.”
As Filter continued, he said, he then remembers “the officers pulling my feet off of him and at that point I was just looking for my wife and kids.” Casey was reportedly the woman who found and picked up the gun laying nearby.
