Daisy Coleman’s Mom, Melinda, Dies By Suicide Just 4 Month’s After Daisy Took Her Own Life

Daisy Coleman, a teenage girl featured in the Netflix documentary “Audrie & Daisy,” committed suicide earlier this year. And just months after her suicide, Daisy’s mother, Melinda Coleman, took her own life.

Melinda was found dead last weekend according to SafeBAE, the sexual assault prevention and recovery organization co-founded by Daisy following her rape case.

The group revealed how they are in “shock and disbelief” over her suicide, adding: “The bottomless grief of losing her husband, Tristan and Daisy was more than she could face most days.”

SafeBAE called Melinda a “gifted veterinarian, devoted mother and wife, and talented bodybuilder,” adding, “More than anything, she loved and believed in her children.”

In August, Daisy took her own life which was discovered after her mom called the police to do a welfare check.

Melinda wrote at the time: “She was my best friend and amazing daughter. I think she had to make it seem like I could live without her. I can’t. I wish I could have taken the pain from her!”

In January 2012, Daisy was just 14 years old when she was allegedly raped at a Missouri house party after drinking. No one was ever convicted.

The 2016 Netflix documentary followed Daisy along with her family as they processed the trauma of her alleged assault as well as the intense reaction of their community.

She was only 58-years-old.
