Debbie Gibson Performs ‘Let It Snow’ on ‘GMA’ to Promote Her First Ever Holiday Album Titled ‘Winterlicious’

On a recent GMA appearance, Debbie Gibson explained the many ‘profound experiences’ she has encountered in the past year or so – starting with the release of her 10th studio album on August 20, 2021, but eventually continuing with her mother passing away on January 23, 2022 at the age of 76.

A few months ago, Gibson released her first ever holiday album called Winterlicious. For someone who has had the type of career she has had over the past four decades, many people are wondering what took her so long to finally curate a holiday album – something Lara Spencer asked her on Friday.

Speaking to Spencer, a co-anchor of GMA, Gibson discussed how some of the inspiration for the album came from her mother ‘from the other side,’ adding that the album ‘just came pouring out of me this year.’ She has always been a believer in timing and felt that the 2022 holidays was the perfect time to go for it.

Adding to the many profound experiences for Debbie Gibson in 2022 happened on December 17th during the Jacksonville, Florida leg of her Winterlicious Tour. There was a segment of the concert where Gibson performed White Christmas with her father – Daddy Joe – who she says has a beautifully-untrained voice.

“We were talking earlier in the dressing rooms. As we become more seasoned, as we like to say, you know we really do take those moments in more. It’s so special having him on this record. He has the most gorgeous untrained voice and such a personality,” she said to Spencer before performing ‘Let It Snow.’

Debbie Gibson is best known for her debut album in 1987 titled Out of the Blue, which was eventually certified triple platinum by the RIAA. The album resulted in her becoming the youngest female artist to write, produce, and perform a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with her single ‘Foolish Beat.’

She later won Songwriter of the Year in 1989 after releasing her second studio album, which was certified double-platinum. Gibson has continued to make music and appear in films or on television for the past few decades. In 2018, she was named one of the top 60 female artists of all-time by Billboard.

Soundcheck: Debbie Gibson is Streaming Now

Debbie Gibson has had an incredible career as a singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. That’s why it’s no surprise that Soundcheck, a music series that takes a deeper look at some of the world’s greatest musicians and artists, wanted to feature Gibson in one of their latest episodes – which they did.

The episode aired on December 20th on NJ PBS (local) and will re-air on December 24th (Christmas Eve) and December 25th (Christmas Day). The episode shares several performances from Gibson’s Winterlicious Tour, as well as behind the scenes footage for viewers who want a closer look at the star.

“I grew up a fan of public television and loved sharing the start of my first-ever holiday tour with Jen and the NJ PBS audience. My team and I are so thrilled with how the feeling of the show translates thanks to the incredible crew who captured highlights from the New Jersey performance!” said Debbie Gibson.
