Mike Pence Sounds Off on Donald Trump After the Former President Had Dinner With Kanye West, Nick Fuentes

Former Vice President Mike Pence isn’t holding back from sharing his thoughts on Donald Trump hosting Kanye West, Nick Fuentes, and two others for dinner at his private Mar-a-Lago club. It was a meeting that angered plenty of politicians in the Republican Party – and for good reason.

“President Trump was wrong to give a white nationalist, an antisemite, and a Holocaust denier a seat at the table. I think he should apologize for it and he should denounce those individuals and their hateful rhetoric without qualification,” said Mike Pence in a recent interview with NewsNation on Monday.

He added that, while he doesn’t believe Trump to be an antisemite himself, he does believe the former President of the United States – and former running mate – ‘demonstrated profoundly poor judgment in giving those individuals a seat at the table.’ His thoughts were echoed by many in the Republican Party.

For example, Ohio Senator Rob Portman found it ‘wrong’ and ‘inappropriate’ for Donald Trump to host someone with such a recent past as Kanye West and Nick Fuentes. “White supremacy has no place in our nation’s culture. It’s antithetical to everything we stand for as Americans,” said Portman on Monday.

Joni Ernst, an Iowa senator and member of the Republican Party, didn’t want to elaborate on his thoughts, but she denounced the dinner as “ridiculous.” Mitt Romney, one of Trump’s biggest critics, said there’s “no bottom to the degree to which President Trump will degrade himself and the nation.”

There’s no denying the timing behind the dinner. Kanye West has made a slew of headlines over the past few months, most of which tied to antisemitic and racist comments/behaviors – including lashing out at the Jewish community on Twitter and showcasing a “White Lives Matter” clothing line at a fashion show.

Meanwhile, Nick Fuentes – who was also at the dinner with Donald Trump – is a known white supremacist, according to the U.S. Justice Department. The live streamer is a supporter of authoritarian governments and considers himself a Catholic integralist and Christian nationalist.

Donald Trump Vaguely Explains His Side of the Story

Donald Trump has been under a lot of fire recently – as is the norm – in his preparation for yet another run for President of the United States. In the spirit of offering some context to his recent dinner with Kanye West, Nick Fuentes, and two others, Trump took to his Truth Social account to explain – sort of.

“This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Shortly thereafter, he unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about. We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful. They then left for the airport,” said Trump.

According to Trump, he didn’t invite Nick Fuentes to the dinner and had no idea he was coming until he arrived as one of the West’s guests. He reiterated that his intent when meeting with Ye was to help “a seriously troubled man, who just happens to be black, who has been decimated in his business.”

While Trump stopped short of condemning Kanye West and Nick Fuentes for their recent actions and/or behaviors, he did offer some sound advice for the hip-hop legend – “I told him don’t run for office, a total waste of time, can’t win. Fake News went CRAZY!” Despite that, Trump still plans on running in 2024.
