And that makes four for Ed Sheeran! On May 19, the singer shocked his fans with his latest Instagram post in which he revealed he is now a father of two!
Back in August 2020, Sheeran made a very similar announcement when he announced the birth of his first daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. As Sheeran revealed in his surprise post, he and his wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed another baby girl into their family, officially making him a girl dad times two!

“[I] want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram alongside a pair of her tiny socks. “We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4.”
Both Ed and Cherry are extremely private when it comes to their lives together. Especially their lives as parents.
Many fans shared their shock and offered their congratulations on Instagram. One commenter wrote, “Yayyyyy!!!! Another girl like you wanted,” seemingly revealing that Ed’s number one goal was to remain a girl dad!
In a past interview, Sheeran opened up about his life as a dad, saying Lyra cries when he sings! Who would have thought, a Grammy winner with a daughter who hates his singing!
“I definitely spent hours and hours in front of the mirror pretending to be essentially what I am now. Practice makes perfect,” Sheeran said in his interview. “Now I’ll sing [my new songs] to my daughter, who’s not my biggest fan. She just cries!”

But don’t worry, while his new stuff may not be up to par for his biggest critic, she does like some of his older stuff, Sheeran admitted. The classics, some would say.
“No, I’ve got some she likes,” he admitted. “She really likes ‘Shape of You.’ The marimba sound is good, but she doesn’t like anything loud or anything belt-y.”
We wonder if baby girl number two will be the same way or if she’ll be a bigger fan of all of her dad’s work. Sheeran and Seaborn have been married since 2019. According to Yahoo, it was actually Ed Sheeran’s good friend, and fellow pop star, Taylor Swift, who helped Ed land the girl.
While Ed and Cherry have known each other since they were 11 years old, they didn’t reconnect until 2015. And coincidentally, their first date was reportedly one of Taylor Swift’s legendary Fourth of July parties.
“I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I,’” Ed Sheeran told People, “I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history.” How awesome is that!
