Fans Grow Concerned for Tom Hanks, Who Reveals He Thinks He Made at Least 4 Good Movies

Back in June, fans grew concerned for beloved actor Tom Hanks as he was promoting his new movie ‘Elvis.’ If you were unaware, Hanks totally transformed himself into the role of Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis Presley’s Dutch-born manager.

However, it was while Hanks was promoting the new movie earlier this summer that fans grew concerned for Hanks. According to some who saw the actor in person, Hanks was displaying shaky hands.

Hanks never addressed some of his fans’ concerns and several others took to social media to slam those who were potentially making something out of nothing, calling the concern over shaking hands “a reach.” And while Hanks appears to be healthy, it’s not like the 67-year-old actor has been without health issues.

As Mamas Uncut reported back in 2020, Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, were some of the first known cases of COVID-19. Tom and Rita were in Australia filming a movie when they received the diagnosis.

Thankfully, the couple fully recovered. But as Hanks shared in 2013, he’s also a type 2 diabetic. And some fans tied his shaky hands to his life with diabetes.

“He’s diabetic. This happens to my mom when she gets low blood sugar,” one fan admitted.

While a guest on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ nearly 10 years ago, Hanks revealed that he was diagnosed with diabetes as an adult.

“I went to the doctor and he said, ‘You know those high blood sugar numbers you’ve been dealing with since you were 36?’” Hanks shared. ”’Well, you graduated! You’ve got Type 2 diabetes, young man.’”

In a separate interview, as the New York Post revealed, Hanks added that growing up, he never took really good care of his body. “I’m part of the lazy American generation that has blindly kept dancing through the party and now finds ourselves with a malady,” Hanks explained.

“I was heavy. You’ve seen me in movies, you know what I looked like. I was a total idiot. I thought I could avoid it by removing the buns from my cheeseburgers.”

While Hanks hasn’t spoken about living with diabetes in quite some time, he recently shocked his loyal fan base by admitting he believes he only made four good movies over his uber-successful decades-long career.

While talking with People Magazine, he said. “No one knows how a movie is made, though everyone thinks they do. I’ve made a ton of movies — and four of them are pretty good, I think — and I’m still amazed at how films come together. From a flicker of an idea to the flickering image onscreen, the whole process is a miracle.”

Although Hanks may have just been modest at the time, in 2021, he did tell Bill Simmons on his podcast what his three favorite movies are. Surprisingly, ‘Forrest Gump’ isn’t one of them.

Instead, Hanks listed 1992′s ‘A League of Their Own’, 2000′s ‘Castaway’, and 2012′s ‘Cloud Atlas’.
