Gayle King isn’t afraid to speak her mind, even if it involves the personal lives of two anchors that work for a rival network. That was put on full display during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on December 8th, when she commented on all the drama over at Good Morning America.
By drama, we mean the consensual relationship between T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach – two anchors of the GMA3 show on ABC News. The two were recently seen holding hands while on a date, which confirmed what many people have speculated for the past few months – they were a couple, after all.
While Good Morning America initially declined to punish the two for their off-air relationship, they recently announced that a review will take place after new details surfaced of previous relationships Holmes had with subordinates. As the plot thickens, many people are criticizing the network’s handling of the incident.
“It’s just gotten very messy and very sloppy. In the beginning, I actually thought [was] good on Good Morning America. They’re saying they’re not taking them off the air. It’s two consenting adults,” said Gayle King during her interview with Cohen. King works for CBS News, a rival network of GMA and ABC News.
“But then the more you read, it’s just very messy. To me, it’s just a sad situation because you’ve got kids involved, you’ve got families involved, and I keep thinking about that. I’m very concerned about that,” Gayle King continued – referencing the children both Holmes and Robach have from previous marriages.
T.J. Holmes’ first marriage was to Amy Ferson in 2007 and they had two children together – a daughter named Brianna and a son named Jaiden. After his divorce from Ferson, he married Marilee Fiebig and they had one child together – a daughter named Sabine – before separating earlier this year (August).
Amy Robach’s first marriage was to Tim McIntosh in 1996 and they had two daughters together – Ava and Analise. After their divorce in 2008, she started dating Andrew Shue and the couple got married in 2010. Much like Holmes and his ex-wife, Robach and Shue separated earlier this year – in August.
Gayle King Isn’t Lying When She Says ‘Messy’
As new details emerge between T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, fans are finally starting to see just how ‘messy’ this situation is getting. While Robach and her husband were in the midst of finalizing their divorce when this all started, new reports are suggesting differently for Holmes and his former wife.
While they were separated at the time, Holmes’ wife was reportedly ‘blindsided’ by the news of his relationship with Robach. Not only that, but reports suggest the two were attempting to reconcile when the news broke. And while that can certainly change the way things are perceived, it only gets worse for him.
Other reports are suggesting this is nothing new for Holmes. A source close to the situation claims Holmes cheated on his ex-wife with multiple staffers, with one of them falling in love with Holmes. The source added that while he’s free to date another anchor, that’s not the case with those underneath him.
