Twitter users are reacting after videos and photos emerge of deceased Maryland rapper, Goonew‘s body was propped up on stage in a DC nightclub.
As part of a home-going funeral celebration, the late rapper’s body was made to look as if it was standing on stage while attendees either stared in shock or danced as if nothing was amiss.

The 24-year-old’s funeral, which was dubbed “The Final Show,” was held at Bliss Nightclub in Washington DC Sunday, and video footage from inside the club appears to show the musician’s embalmed body in attendance on stage wearing casual clothes and a crown.
According to TooFab, Bliss Nightclub was not made aware that the corpse would be in attendance at the home-going celebration of his life. Additionally, the club offered its apologies to any patrons who were offended by the display. They are also conducting an independent investigation into the incident.

“Our deepest condolences to Goonew’s family, friends, and fans,” the club said in a statement. “Bliss was contacted by a local funeral home to rent out our venue for Goonew’s home-going celebration. Bliss was never made aware of what would transpire.”
The home-going celebration comes two weeks after Goonew, whose legal name is Markelle Morrow, was shot to death in a District Heights parking lot. His family believes that he was the victim of an armed robbery, TMZ reports.
The victim’s mother believes that her son gave up all of his valuables but was nonetheless shot in the back.
The unconventional display of the rapper’s body went viral on Twitter with many viewers of footage from the club taken aback by the spectacle.
“If y’all saw that video with Goonew’s body y’all can’t tell me this society ain’t already collapsed,” one user tweeted.
“Our generation is so weird,” another person tweeted. “People not even fazed by a dead corpse in the club like this […] Rip Goonew but I would never set up funeral arrangements like this.”

While we are certain the rapper’s tragic death at such a young age was no doubt painful and shocking for family, friends, and fans, it’s clear that displaying his body in this manner has rubbed folks the wrong way.
