Don’t expect singer Grimes to host a gender reveal party anytime soon. In fact, the singer and her partner Elon Musk have decided that they won’t be announcing the gender at all, according to People.
At seven months pregnant, Grimes took to YouTube to answer her fans’ questions. Responding to one person’s question about her unborn child’s gender, the singer made it clear that this isn’t information she’ll be sharing with the public.

“I don’t want to say the gender of the baby … because I feel like their privacy should be protected. I don’t think they can consent to being famous or being in public,” Grimes said. “And I don’t want to gender them in case that’s not how they feel in their life. I don’t know, I just feel like it doesn’t need to be known.”

She once again shared this decision on Twitter, posting, “They may decide their fate and identity.” Grimes, who recently released the album Miss Anthropocene, shared that she has decided on a name for her first child, but that will also be kept private.
“I have a name for the baby, but I don’t want to say what it is because everyone I’ve told it hates it, and everyone’s gonna make fun of it. But it is, in fact, a genius name and people just don’t appreciate it yet because it’s too avant-garde.”
The mama-to-be has been open about her struggles throughout the pregnancy, including being sick and the toll it has taken on her daily life. While chatting about her new album with The Face magazine, Grimes admitted that she has been “mega sick.”
