When Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton started dating in 2015, most people didn’t think it would last – after all, they’re two completely different people. Gwen is a city girl from Orange County who mostly sings pop music, while Blake is a country boy from Oklahoma and almost exclusively sings country music.
Fast forward eight years and here they are – celebrating their two-year wedding anniversary and, perhaps more importantly, celebrating their differences as they continue to love one another unconditionally. In fact, those differences were the subject of one of Gwen’s recent TikToks, which she posted last week.
“When you’re with a guy from Oklahoma who rides tractors and you’re from Orange County but it just works,” she wrote in a text overlay in the video – which was set to her hit song ‘True Babe.’ In the song, Stefani sings, “We’re from two different worlds / But you can still call me your pretty girl, pretty girl.”
The video montage showcases the many differences between their two lifestyles and proves that, while it doesn’t happen all the time, opposites do, in fact, attract – and when it does, it makes for a beautiful partnership. In their case, it makes them one of the most unlikely, yet highly-liked couples in Hollywood.
It all started in 2014, when Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton met for the first time as coaches on the hit Tv show The Voice. They were both married to other people at the time – Blake was married to Miranda Lambert, while Gwen was married to Gavin Rossdale – but their marriages were slowly coming to an end.
In July 2015, Blake and Miranda announced their divorce and it was finalized that same day. One month later, Gwen filed for divorce from Gavin and it was finalized the following year. It was in the summer of 2015 that Blake and Gwen grew close to one another as they bonded over their respective divorces.
Blake and Gwen were officially dating by October 2015 and it stayed that way for five years – that is until Blake popped the big question in October 2020. He proposed in the same chapel that they ended up getting married in the following year on July 3, 2021 – and they’ve been happily married ever since.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Celebrate 2nd Wedding Anniversary
On July 3, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton took to social media to celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary. Blake, who isn’t as active on social media, shared a wedding pic of the two lovebirds kissing next to their wedding cake. “Every day has been the best day since I met you,” he wrote in the caption.
Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani shared a video montage of some of their precious moments together – it was set to the same ‘True Babe’ song she used in her more recent post. She also posted a video of her lip-singing the song over a photoshopped photo of the two lovebirds as kids – as if they knew each other.
Stefani spoke highly of her husband in May, when he was awarded the 2,755th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – an experience she’ll get to live in 2024, when she receives a star of her own. During her speech, she called Blake her ‘dream come true’ and praised him for how humble and genuine he is.

“Blake, you are a rare human being and for all the success that you’ve had in your life as a singer, a songwriter, a musician, a performer and entertainer, an actor, a comedian, an entrepreneur, he’s the same guy today as he was back then. A country guy with a love for country music,” she said in her speech.
