Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin‘s daughter Apple is all grown up. Earlier in May, the former couple’s daughter celebrated her Sweet 16th birthday.
And while Apple may have been in quarantine for the milestone birthday, that didn’t stop her family and friends from making sure she knows just how very very loved she is. As Page Six reported, Paltrow threw a “drive-by party” for her only daughter.
A “drive-by party” is how some families are celebrating birthdays while the world deals with a global health crisis. It consists of friends and family who don’t live at home with them driving by and wishing the special birthday boy or girl a happy birthday from a safe and socially responsible distance.
According to Page Six, along with a slew of unknown family and friends, Martin was also present for the drive-by celebration as was their 14-year-old son Moses. According to photos captured by paparazzi who somehow caught wind of the party, Paltrow’s driveway was decorated with a bunch of balloons and many of the cars had handmade signs taped to their doors.

Equally as sweet as the birthday bash was, Paltrow also took to Instagram to publicly wish her teenager a happy birthday. “I can’t believe I’m actually writing these words but… happy sweet sixteen my darling girl,” Paltrow began.
“You are the light of my heart, you are pure joy. You are wickedly intelligent and you have the best, most dry, most brilliant sense of humor. I have the best time being your mom. I love our nightly evening chats when I really get to hear what’s on your mind. You work hard to get whatever it is you want to achieve, and you have grit and responsibility in spades.”
Paltrow concluded her sweet birthday note by telling the world that she is “so damn lucky to be your mother, you beautiful, kind young woman,” before apologizing that she has to celebrate her Sweet 16 in this particular way.
“Thank you for choosing me. I adore you to the moon and back a zillion times. I’m sorry you are having this particular birthday during these circumstances, but as always with you, you find the best in everything.” How sweet!
