Hilaria Baldwin Opens Up About Miscarriage at 16 Weeks, Grief, and Love Following the Birth of Her Two Rainbow Babies

Despite having two little ones at home who are breastfeeding, Hilaria Baldwin is still managing to keep her fans up to date on her new life as a mom of six. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, just five months after welcoming her fifth child into the world, Baldwin and her husband, actor Alec Baldwin, surprised their fans by sharing that they were also the proud parents of another baby girl, their sixth child.

Although Baldwin has yet to share their baby girl’s birth story, it is understood that they welcomed her into the world via a surrogate. Now, Hilaria and Alec are proud parents of four boys and two girls. Alec also has a daughter from a previous relationship, Ireland.

However, in a series of Instagram stories, Baldwin opened up about the miscarriage she had at 16 weeks before welcoming her youngest son Edu in September 2020 and then her daughter, María, in February 2021.

“My heart has gotten to grow so much to love all of you so,” she said along with a video of her daughter smiling away, as well as Edu, laying next to her. Baldwin then called her two youngest children her rainbow babies, before opening up about the daughter she miscarried prior to Edu’s birth in another slide.

“There is not a day that goes by where I do not miss their older sister, who we lost at 16 weeks. There is also not a day that goes by where I don’t thank my lucky stars that I have Eduardo Pau and Maria Lucia,” she says. “The fact that both of those feelings can exist inside of me, simultaneously and so intensely in their polarity, blows my mind. Life has so many more layers and nuances than I could have ever dreamed.”

Hilaria also commented on the Baldwin genes that run strong in all of her children.

In a photo of a six-week-old Maria smiling up at her mom, Hilaria wrote that their happy baby girl has been doing that a lot. She also commented on Alec’s strong genes. “At six weeks, we are seeing you wake up more and more…um….what is with these Baldwin genes?? Another mini Alec.”

And Hilaria’s not wrong!
