Hoda Kotb Leaves Today Show Desk Mid-Show After Revealing Her Daughters Needed Her

Hoda Kotb’s not a regular mom, she’s a cool mom! So cool that she made it a priority to leave her Today Show hosting duties mid-show in order to personally drop her daughters, Haley Joy and Hope Catherine, off on their first day of school!

About 25 minutes after the show began, Kotb revealed she had to leave. As she told her co-hosts, she had motherly duties to attend to.

“Hoda, you’re on the run — it’s the first day of school,” Guthrie can be heard telling Kotb after they had finished reading their respective teases. “I’m taking my kids to school!” Kotb clarified before asking, “Okay, can I leave right now?”

“Yes, give them a hug for us,” Guthrie answered while Kotb was already on her way out, telling her other co-hosts, Craig Melvin and Al Roker, “Bye! See ya later!”

“Go get ‘em, girls,” Guthrie encouragingly yelled.

Roughly three hours later, Kotb was back at the anchor desk next to Jenna Bush Hager for the third hour of the show! What a day for the mom of two!

While Kotb didn’t share the traditional “back to school” picture many parents do, she did share a Dr. Seuss quote to celebrate the occasion on her personal Instagram account. “You’re off to great places today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!”
