When it comes to parenthood, none of it can be predicted. Not even if you are Ivanka Trump or Jared Kushner.
In a new Instagram post, Ivanka shared on February 12, the mom of three opened up about the scary situation her 6-year-old son found himself in while at school. “This week I received a call from the school nurse that every parent dreads,” Ivanka wrote on Instagram alongside her son Theo on a stretcher inside a local emergency room.

“My 6-year-old son Theo broke his wrist while playing soccer. Since I was over an hour’s drive away, an ambulance took Theo, accompanied by the school nurse, to the closest hospital. Jared and I raced to meet him,” Ivanka continued. Thankfully, “Jared arrived at the same time as the ambulance, and me getting there a few minutes later.”
As Ivanka continued, she wrote that Theo had “a bad break, but the capable EMT, doctors, nurses, and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital staff cared for Theo tenderly and professionally.” In fact, despite the obvious pain Theo was in, he called the situation one of the best days ever, thanks to just how well the hospital staff took care of him.
“Theo’s visit culminated with two ice pops, which led to him declaring ‘this is the best day ever,’” Ivanka explained, adding that after Theo thanked them for the ice pops, “the nurse turned to me and said, ‘This is why I’m in pediatrics! No adult in the emergency room has ever said something like that when given an ice pop.’”
Ivanka continued her statement by reiterating that “Jared and I are so grateful to the doctors, nurses, EMTs, and hospital staff who cared for our son. With gratitude in our hearts, we have made a donation to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.”
Ivanka added a second picture showing Theo back home, sleeping with his temporary cast on. It’s currently unclear if Theo will need surgery to help heal his break or if he will just need to be in a cast few a few weeks.
