Talk About a Transformation: Jacob Tremblay Shares Photo of Him in 2015 vs 2022

Jacob Tremblay, known for his breakout role of Jack Newsome in Room at just 8 years old, is making the entire internet feel old with his latest tweet. The Canadian actor celebrated his 16th birthday earlier this month and shared a side-by-side photo of him in 2015 vs. him in 2022.

He captioned the photo, ‘how it started vs how it’s going…’ as fans started to wonder where the time went – it seems like it was just yesterday that he was making us laugh as he accepted his Critics’ Choice Award for best young actor, struggling to reach the microphone at 9 years old.

That was then, and this is now. The 16-year-old actor recently took to the red carpet outside the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres on October 22nd. He was celebrating the premiere of My Father’s Dragon, a 2D-animated fantasy adventure film starring Tremblay as the voice of Elmer Elevator.

It’s scheduled to be released on Netflix on November 11 – it also stars Gaten Matarazzo, Whoopi Goldberg, Golshifteh Farahani, Ian McShane, Rita Morena, Dianne Wiest, Alan Cumming, and Judy Greer. It’s about a young boy who runs away in search of a dragon.

Tremblay was born on October 5, 2006 and started his acting career in 2013 at the age of seven. He primarily received small roles in TV and film, making his animated/live-action debut in The Smurf’s 2. His breakout role came in 2015 as Jack Newsome in the highly-praised Room.

His performance earned him a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Young Performer – he vowed to put it next to his Millennium Falcon. He also won a Canadian Screen Award and was nominated for an SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

Since then, he has appeared in a number of TV and film projects – including Wonder (2017), Good Boys (2019), Doctor Sleep (2019), Harley Quinn (2019), and Luca (2021). He won the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film: Leading Young Actor (Wonder).

When Jacob Tremblay shared his ‘then vs. now’ photo on Twitter, fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing – with one user refusing ‘to believe time is moving that fast… not on my watch.’ Someone else realized they were ‘closer to the grave’ than they ever imagined.

It’s crazy how time can deceive us – it doesn’t feel like it’s been eight years, but the photo puts it into perspective. Another user added, “Yeah way to make us adults feel old. You are supposed to remain 7 forever so we feel young. Now we got to yell at people to get off our lawns.”

While he makes the rest of us feel old, the Canadian actor is still just 16 years old and has his entire career ahead of him. With several projects in the works for 2023 and beyond – including voice roles in The Little Mermaid (he voices Flounder) and Wildwood (currently filming).
