“This is a really important Red Table Talk on Alopecia,” Jada said at the top of the episode. The actress is seen sitting alone at the red table wearing a white turtleneck. It appears as though the segment was filmed separately from the rest of the episode.

“Considering what I been through with my own health and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have reached out to me with their stories. I’m using this moment to give our Alopecia family an opportunity to talk about what it is like to have this condition. And to inform people about what alopecia actually is,” Jada continued.

She then addressed Oscar night. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Jada accompanied Will Smith to the Oscars earlier this year.

Smith was nominated for an award for his role, playing Serena William’s father in King Richard. Smith ultimately won the Oscar but not before his actions shocked the world.

Shortly before accepting his award, Chris Rock appears on stage to present a different award. While on stage, Rock told a few jokes, one of them at the expense of Jada Pinkett Smith.

Chris addressed Jada before saying that he was looking forward to seeing her star in the as G.I. Jane. Rock was obviously making a dig at Jada’s shaved head, something she has been doing as a result of her struggle with Alopecia.

Jada, at the moment, seemed pained by the joke and Smith defended her by walking on stage and slapping Chris Rock in the face on live television. He then proceeded to yell at the comedian, telling him to “keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth.”

“Now, about Oscar night,” Jada continued. “My deepest hope is that these two intelligent capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconcile. With the state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever.”

That’s when Jada addressed how she and Will are handling the aftermath of his outburst together. “Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”

It is believed Smith is on a spiritual journey in an attempt to heal. Smith has since apologized publicly to Rock, but it remains unclear if the two have ever talked privately since the slap.

Rock is currently on tour, and while he hasn’t talked much about the slap, he has revealed that he is recovering and has got much of his hearing back.

As the episode of Red Table Talk continued, Jada offered time to other people who struggle with Alopecia, so that they can share their stories. As the episode began, Jada shared a story about a 12-year-old girl named Rio Allred.

Allred at developed Alopecia during the pandemic. From 2020 to 2022, Allred had lost most of her hair due to the autoimmune disorder and like Jada began to shave her head.

Prior to returning to in-school learning, Allred’s grandmother gifted the 12-year-old a wig. As Jada reported, Allred was so excited to show it off to her classmates.

Sadly, rather than being welcomed with open arms, Allred was bullied and ridiculed by her classmates. On March 14, 2022, Allred decided she had enough and at just 12 years old, she took her own life.
