Singer Jana Kramer faced controversy this week after calling herself a “single mom” in the wake of her divorce from ex-husband Mike Caussin, a former NFL player, due to his cheating scandal.

Jana Kramer has had a very tumultuous, yet personally actualizing, divorce from Caussin, involving her having to settle for hundreds of thousands of dollars despite the fact that he cheated on her for six straight years, having to figure out custody over their two children, and selling her engagement ring to pay for a house renovation. There has been chaos for the singer around every corner of this divorce, but she’s better off for it.
However, that’s not where it ends for her. Earlier this week, Jana Kramer posted a selfie to Instagram featuring her stood in front of her mirror, captioned, “Single mom boss mode in full gear…” Her comments were subsequently flooded with abuse over her calling herself a “single mom.”

The singer is clearly exhausted after the hectic week she’s had. She begins her caption, “Even parents need a ‘quiet time.’ I never usually let myself get that break but honestly, I’m starting to feel run down and at the brink of one of those mommy meltdowns so here I am…trying to relax…and recharging even if it’s for an hour.”
She subsequently explains why she called herself a single mother while also chastising her commenters, writing, “Also, I read a pretty nasty site that people were hating on me because I said I was a single mom so apparently I’m not allowed to say that. But I am single. I am a mom. But to further drive my point home, I looked up the definition and it’s a parent who has the kids more than 50%. So to that website of mean trolls you don’t know me, so don’t be mean. Come over for a glass of wine and then judge me all you want after you get to know me and my single mom-ness.”
She concludes by reminding her followers to be considerate in the way they treat others, “Okay rant over, this isn’t relaxing. Choose kindness. Choose love. Sidebar… to all my nice friends let’s do a @onebrickwine event and drink wine together later this year.”
