Ex NFL quarterback Jay Cutler and MTV’s The Hills star Kristin Cavallari‘s divorce has reached a point of contention. Cavallari began a lifestyle brand, Uncommon James, while the pair were married. In a 2018 episode of her E! reality series, Very Cavallari, Kristin Cavallari explained that her ex-husband “thinks he owns half of this company, and he does not. That is not on our non-existent prenup.”
The roots of the current issue also appear in a 2019 episode of the same show. Kristin Cavallari states that “Jay already thinks that he owns half of the company, so by me letting him go in, I’m potentially creating a monster.”
Despite the contention, Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are working hard to not let things affect their kids.
The exes first announced their divorce in April 2020 in an Instagram post. They captioned it “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of.”
The post continued, “This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”
Kristin Cavallari opened up to Mr. Warburton about their experiences co-parenting.
She told them how “It has its challenges for sure, especially in the beginning when everything is so fresh still. But we’re just navigating it the best way we know how.”
The star then explained her number one priority as a parent. She will “Never put the kids in the middle of it, no matter how mad you are at your ex-spouse. One thing that my mom did was she never said anything bad about my dad. Now that I’m older, I really respect that.”
Kristin Cavallari continued, “I always want my kids to see Jay and me as a united front. He’s their father. That’s important and they need to see that from me.”
Jay Cutler is also working hard to be a good co-parent.
To celebrate mother’s day, he wrote his ex a touching Instagram post captioned, “Some kids have all the luck. Happy Mother’s Day @kristincavallari.”
He told E! that “It’s good” co-parenting with Kristin. “I mean, kids are resilient. With school and all the activities, we’ve done a good job of putting them first.”
