Jennifer Garner Makes Rare Appearance With Eldest Daughter, Violet Affleck, at White House State Dinner on Thursday

Jennifer Garner doesn’t make public appearances with her children very often – not even social media – but she appeared to make an exception this week with her oldest daughter, Violet Affleck, for the White House State Dinner. The stunning mother-daughter duo was invited by President Biden and his wife.

It was an extra special day for the duo, who were also celebrating Violet’s 17th birthday – she was born on December 1, 2005. She’s the oldest of three children Garner shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck – the other two being a 13-year-old daughter named Seraphina and a 10-year-old son named Samuel.

According to PEOPLE, Jennifer Garner was sporting a ‘floor-length, black Ralph Lauren gown with sequin accents on the sleeve’ with a black clutch and shoes made by Stuart Weitzman. As for Violet, she sported a ‘thin-strapped Carolina Herrera dress with heart imprints,’ red heels, and a black clutch.

Jennifer Garner and Violet Affleck were just two of the 400 invited guests to the White House State Dinner on Thursday – the main guest of honor being French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron. It was a star-studded event – not just among politicians, but with some celebrities in attendance.

Some of the other attendees included Jon Batiste with his wife and family (he also performed), Anna Wintour with Baz Luhrmann, Chrissy Teigen with John Legend, Stephen Colbert with his wife, Joe Scarborough with Mike Brzezinski, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus with her son – just to name a few.

Also in attendance were Nancy Pelosi and her daughter, Kevin McCarthy and his mother, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and his wife, Chuck Schumer with his daughter, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and his husband, and, of course, President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden

As Garner and Violet arrived at the event, they were seen holding hands with huge smiles on their faces. Garner has long been a voice for the Democratic Party – often speaking at rallies, holding fundraisers for Barack Obama in 2008, and even hosting a fundraiser for Hilary Clinton in 2016.

Jennifer Garner Preaches Maintaining a Close Relationship With Her Children

Jennifer Garner absolutely loves being a mother and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. And while she boasts an extremely close relationship with her children – as well as the father of her children, Ben Affleck – she admits that bearing her children wasn’t easy and, at times, led her to do ‘crazy things.’

First, there was a mixup with her doctor when she was pregnant with Violet. Her at-home pregnancy test was very faint, so she went to her doctor to get a ‘proper’ test – which concluded that Garner wasn’t pregnant. The next morning, she woke up and had a feeling her doctor was wrong – which he was.

And while she struggled with nausea when pregnant with Violet, it got worse and worse with her next two children. “It got worse throughout the day. It wasn’t like in the morning and then I was fine. As the day went on, it was worse. For some reason Yo-Yo Ma got me through,” she said on The Ellen Degeneres Show.
