Jennifer Garner Seemingly Responds to Ex-Husband Ben Affleck’s 2021 Comments About Her

After her divorce from Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner admits she had to change the way she seeks out news.

Affleck and Garner announced their divorce 8 years ago in 2015. The former couple welcomed 3 children into the world during their 10-year marriage, 17-year-old Violet, 14-year-old Seraphina, and 11-year-old Samuel.

Now, after their divorce was finalized in 2018, both Jennifer and Ben have found themselves in new relationships. According to reports, Garner is dating businessman John Miller and Ben famously married Jennifer Lopez in 2022.

And despite ending their marriage, Ben and Jen have managed to successfully co-parent their children and remain friends for the last 8 years. However, things seemed to hit a snag when Ben, during an interview with Howard Stern, seemed to blame his alcoholism on his marriage to Garner.

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, in December 2021, while talking with Stern on his radio show, Affleck opened up about his past addictions. He even went as far as to say that he believes he wouldn’t be sober like he is today if he was still married to Garner.

Ben Affleck told Howard Stern that “part of why I started drinking was because I was trapped.” At some point during the 10 years he was married to Garner, Affleck said he became unhappy.

“I was like, ‘I can’t leave because of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ And what I did was, drank a bottle of scotch and fell asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.”

Shortly after the interview went viral and Affleck was left clarifying his statements. While on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, Affleck blamed sensational headlines for the confusion.

“I would never want my kids to think I would ever say a bad word about their mom,” he told Kimmel. “I had gone on and said how much we respect each other and cared about each other and cared about our kids and put them first.”

He added that he never once blamed Garner for his alcoholism and blamed tabloid fodder for portraying him as some “awful guy.” “That’s not true. I don’t believe that. It’s the exact opposite of who I am, what I believe.”

Now, Garner is seemingly responding to those past headlines. While talking with Stellar Magazine, Garner revealed that when she sees her ex-husband’s name in the headlines, she avoids the articles altogether.

“I really work hard not to see either of us in the press,” she said. “It doesn’t make me feel good, even if it’s something nice about one of us.”

This seems to confirm whether or not she saw any of the headlines about Ben’s interview with Stern. “I don’t need to see anyone in my family made into a meme.”
