Jessica Alba Just Got Real (Too Real?) About Motherhood’s Messiest Moments

Jessica Alba on Messy Motherhood Moments on The Kelly Clarkson Show

Businesswoman, mom, and actress Jessica Alba recently revealed that she has messy motherhood moments just like the rest of us.

Alba appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show last week to discuss running the Honest Company and spending time with her three children — Honor, 11, Haven, 8, and Hayes, 1 — whom she shares with husband Cash Warren.

Watch Alba’s appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, during which she discusses some truly gross and messy motherhood moments, below.

In a moment that all parents can relate to, Alba had recently shared a video of herself cleaning up baby poop in the bath. She told Clarkson that she had her oldest daughters help take care of the mess.

“What I said to the girls was like, ‘Not only did you poo on me and barf on me several times throughout your babyhood’—because my kids get motion sickness; so every car ride, every train ride, every plane, every single one, it’s coming out—’and whilst in the bathtub with me.’ That’s fun too,” she said. “So, I’m like, ‘You guys need to help me clean this up.’ And they’re like, ‘Gross mom!'”

In between those messy moments, Alba shared that her children also “open my heart and have compassion and empathy for people who are operating in the world very differently from me.”

Alba and Clarkson also bonded over how their daughters are starting to play with makeup with very mixed results. Clarkson shared that her daughter, River Rose, often looks like “Mini from The Drew Carey Show” after applying makeup, while Alba said her daughter sometimes ends up looking a bit “anime-ish/clownish.”

Alba has long been candid about motherhood and how it has changed her life. After starting out in Hollywood as an actress, she eventually moved into the business realm, starting the Honest Company in 2011. Since then, she has become an icon for moms and families in search of high-quality, natural products.

We’re big fans of candidness, so keep it coming! Even if it is pretty gross…
