With the release of her new memoir Open Book, Jessica Simpson has been keeping it super real with her fans lately. Now that her youngest child, Birdie, is almost a year old, the star is reflecting on what it was like to expand her family.
She opened up about the challenges of going from two children to three in an interview with Motherly. She admitted that “the change from two children to three is huge.”
“When I got pregnant, four months later after having my daughter, I was definitely in shock and my hormones never had time to adjust,” says Jessica. “Every pregnancy for me was so different. My first pregnancy I stopped working. It’s not that I stopped creating, but I got to really just embrace just being pregnant for the first time and it was truly a beautiful moment.”
Jessica Simpson Talks About Becoming a Mom of Three
In her book, Simpson opens up about getting sober and going to therapy as she was evolving as a mother. “And so with Birdie, I mean she was just really the cherry on top. When I found out I was pregnant with her, it was such an overwhelming blessing, unexpected blessing, gift from God.”
The busy mama decided to slow things down to enjoy her third pregnancy. “And yes, I was in the middle of writing a book and I was about to actually release an album.”
She continued, “So I had to put everything on hold and take life one moment at a time and it allowed me to slow down and really just understand myself because I went through therapy the whole time I was with Birdie and I was also writing music.”
As her Instagram followers know, Jessica’s third pregnancy was not without its challenges. She explained to Motherly that she chose to be honest about her difficult pregnancy and that’s why she thinks so many other women are able to relate.
“I had edema, I was swollen, I was breaking toilet seats. And I think the people out there and can relate to me in so many ways because I’m honest. I’m honest about it and you just got to laugh at the end of the day with some of the stuff that you go through. You know you are creating lives, so it is a beautiful, empowering thing.”
You can say that again!
