Jill Duggar Dillard Has ‘Feelings of Loss and Joy’ on One-Year Anniversary of Miscarriage

In October of 2021, Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband, Derick Michael Dillard, experienced something no two parents should ever experience – the loss of their unborn child. On Monday, she shared an Instagram post as she reflected on the one-year anniversary of that tragic day.

She explained that she feels “conflicted with feelings of loss and joy,” adding that she misses “the moments we never had with River.” It was a heartbreaking story at the time and it’s just as heartbreaking one year later. She ended the post by saying, “I miss you & I’ll love you forever!”

According to the NCBI, nearly 1 in every 4 pregnancies end in a miscarriage – something Jill Duggar Dillard feels for. My heart is also heavy for others who wish so badly to be mamas or have experienced loss and are still praying for their miracle,” she said in the Instagram post.

Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband have built such a beautiful family over the past seven years. The couple has two sons together – a 5-year-old named Samuel Scott and a 7-year-old named Israel David. And while River is in a better place, the couple has since welcomed a third child.

Frederick ‘Freddy’ Michael, who was pictured with Jill in her Instagram post, was born on July 7, 2022. “I feel so so thankful for where we are this year holding our sweet little newborn & I do not take for granted what a blessing this journey of motherhood is,” the television personality said.

The Dillard family explained the meaning behind their third child’s name – with ‘Frederick’ meaning ‘Peaceful Ruler’ and ‘Michael’ meaning ‘Gift From God.’ Considering what Jill and Derick have gone through over the past 12 months, we think they chose the perfect name.

The ‘rainbow baby’ is blessed to have such a loving mother and father – as well as two siblings that are going to set a good example in the years to come. We’re so happy for this couple and hope they instill a slight glimmer of hope in other couples out there coping with a miscarriage.

A couple of weeks after giving birth to Freddy, Jill was forced to undergo surgery on her gallbladder after experiencing unrelenting pain in her abdomen. It wasn’t an ideal situation, but she had all the support she could ask for and the surgery went well – which makes us happy!
