On Nov. 13, the “Golden Bachelorette” Joan Vassos picked the man she wants a second chance at love with.
And during the finale of the reality series, Vassos said “yes” to Chock Chapple when he got down on one knee to propose.
But despite calling each other fiancé, Vassos and Chapple won’t be living together.
“We’re going to be going back and forth between Kansas to Maryland and to New York,” Chapple explained while talking with People.
Neither Vassos nor Chapple are willing to uproot their lives, due to their respective families, something Vassos was vocal about prior to the her season of the “Golden Bachelorette.”
However, they both agreed to spend time at each other’s houses. Vassos will visit Chapple in Wichita and “he’ll do the same thing in D.C.,” Vassos explained.
“But when we want to be alone together, we’ll probably be in New York,” she told People.
“We’ll have a full-time place in New York and whenever we get the opportunity, we’re going to be there,” Chapple continued. “We’re going to get it figured out this next year.”
Why New York City? Well, it holds significance for Vassos, whose family has created a holiday tradition of visiting the city on Dec. 26.
Vassos and Chapple hope to have a Manhattan apartment secured before then, so that they can celebrate in their shared space.
“If nothing else, we’ll certainly get a hotel or do an Airbnb,” Vassos added. “But I love that tradition. I love Christmas in the city.”
As far as melding their families together, the new couple says their “kids have gotten to know each other a little bit over the phone and texting.”
“But they’re finally going to get to spend four or five days together,” Vassos told People.
“We can’t wait for them to be together because we feel like they are going to have a lot of fun with each other. It’s weird at this age to welcome a new step-sibling into your life, and that’s what it’s going to be for them.”
