John Goodman boasted his fit physique while walking the red carpet for the premiere of Tubi’s “The Freak Brothers” at Fred Segal this past week.
Goodman dawned his 200-pound weight loss in a pair of jeans, orange V-neck sweater and a sports coat alongside co-stars Pete Davidson and Blake Anderson.
Goodman, 69, first began his transformation in 2007. John continued to wrestle with his weight until he decided to completely overhaul his lifestyle at around 400 pounds.
“In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits,” he told ABC in 2017. “This time, I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.”
Goodman decided to do away with alcohol entirely and hired personal trainer Mackie Shilstone to help him live differently.
“It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your a** and figure out what you’re going to eat next,” Goodman told People magazine in 2010.
“I wanted to live life better.”
It was revealed that Goodman adopted a Mediterranean-style diet, which focuses on fish, olive oil, vegetables, nuts, and fruit. In addition to his dietary changes, he also upped his fitness, making sure to take 10,000 to 12,000 steps a day.
“This didn’t happen overnight — it’s been an ongoing process,” Shilstone said of Goodman’s progress.

Goodman first showed off his impressive 100-pound weight loss at the “Trumbo” premiere in 2015. “It was basically just portion control and ‘I don’t need it,’” he told AARP in 2018. “I was just shoving everything into my mouth.”
Adam Devine, who plays Goodman’s son in The Righteous Gemstones, recently shared just how intimidating it is doing stunts with the force that is John Goodman.
“John’s a big guy,” Devine says, of the actor’s stature. “John could throw me through a wall.”
“So he is just kind of tossing me around,” Devine recalls of one particular scene, “and I’m like, ‘Oh, I could legit get hurt by this 65-year-old man.’”
“Beyond being scared for my life, it was just awesome getting to do so many scenes with him. He’s an acting hero of mine….Getting to be in scenes that were intense, grounded, and real about a father and son coming to terms with their relationship, was fun for me,” Devine shares.
